The Senior Claims Specialist manages the claims process for moderately complex commercial general liability construction defect cases, ensuring timely and fair resolution while adhering to company policies, regulatory requirements, and client service standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Investigate, evaluate, and resolve moderately complex claims in accordance with company guidelines and applicable laws.

  • Review policy coverage and determine exposure based on contract terms and legal precedents.

  • Negotiate fair and timely settlements with claimants, attorneys, and third-party representatives.

  • Provide accurate and timely updates to internal systems and maintain complete documentation of claim files.

  • Collaborate with underwriting, legal, and finance teams to ensure alignment and risk mitigation.

  • Identify and escalate potential fraud or litigation risks as appropriate.

  • Deliver quality customer service by maintaining open communication and providing explanations of coverage decisions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent work experience.

  • 3–5 years of experience handling insurance claims within the property and casualty or specialty lines industry.

  • Experience interpreting policy language, coverage analysis, and managing claim negotiations.

CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES / REGISTRATIONS

  • State adjuster license where required or ability to obtain within specified timeframe.

  • Industry designations such as AIC (Associate in Claims) or CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter) preferred.

FUNCTIONAL SKILLS

  • Strong analytical and investigative skills to assess claim details and policy coverage.

  • Proficiency in claims management systems and Microsoft Office applications. Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution abilities.

  • Knowledge of state insurance regulations and legal compliance requirements.
