**These positions are available in levels 1 or 2 depending on experience, education, and licenses/certifications**

*Ideal candidate will have experience with reading and interpreting EOBs, working within EMR systems (EPIC preferrred), and has experience in billing and collections for medical facilities.*

General Description

Under general supervision, the Professional Billing Credit Balance Specialist I performs foundational credit balance review and resolution activities to support accurate patient and payer account balances within Epic Professional Billing.

  • Perform routine credit balance adjustments and refund requests following established policies.

  • Research basic overpayments related to duplicate payments, posting errors, or payer processing.

  • Document actions taken and route complex issues for escalation per guidelines.

  • Maintain productivity and quality standards.

Minimum Requirements (Level 1)

Education: High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience: At least 1 year of medical insurance credit resolution experience required.

Certification/License/Registration: None required.

Education: High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience: At least 3 years of medical insurance credit resolution experience required.

Certification/License/Registration: CPB required to be obtained within 1 year.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Attention to detail

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficient with the use of Microsoft Office tools

  •  Foundational knowledge of professional billing account structures and payment workflows.

  • Ability to follow unit defined workflows and apply policies consistently.

  • Understanding of explanation of benefits (EOB) and insurance reimbursement methodologies.
