Clario, part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, is seeking a Director, Agentic AI and Clinical Trial Platforms, to lead the strategy and development of the next generation of AI-enabled clinical-trial capabilities. This role will shape and deliver cloud-based AI platforms and products that accelerate clinical research workflows, improve data quality, and redefine how clinical studies are designed, configured, conducted, and reviewed across therapeutic areas.
The Director will combine deep technical expertise with strong leadership, strategic thinking, and stakeholder influence to lead Clario’s Agentic AI organization. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience building and operating AI/ML platforms in cloud environments, leading high-performing engineering and AI/data science teams, and translating clinical, product, and business needs into scalable production capabilities.
What You’ll Be Doing
Lead the Agentic AI organization, including AI engineers, data scientists, software engineers, and platform engineers, to deliver scalable AI solutions for internal operations and clinical trial applications.
Drive the strategy, technical architecture, and development of Clario’s AI Agent platform, enabling reusable agents, intelligent automation, human-in-the-loop workflows, and orchestration across Clario’s products, services, data, and enterprise systems.
Oversee the continued development of multimodal AI services, including solutions involving text, clinical outcomes data, audio, sensor, and other trial-related data types.
Partner with product, clinical, regulatory, technology, and commercial stakeholders to identify and prioritise high-impact AI opportunities, define clear clinical and business outcomes, and translate them into production-ready capabilities.
Own the translation of agentic AI capabilities into measurable operational, product, and customer outcomes, including adoption, workflow efficiency, quality improvement, and commercial differentiation.
Lead the design and implementation of cloud-based AI services and platforms using technologies such as AWS SageMaker and related AWS AI/ML services.
Ensure AI solutions are scalable, secure, compliant, observable, and aligned with clinical trial quality and regulatory expectations.
Establish best practices for AI development, including scientifically rigorous model and agent evaluation, agent orchestration, MLOps/LLMOps, data governance, monitoring, validation, and responsible AI.
Serve as a senior technical and strategic partner to the Chief AI Officer, helping shape Clario’s agentic AI vision, clinical-trial transformation agenda, AI operating model, investment priorities, and technology strategy.
Mentor and develop team members while fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, accountability, and innovation.
What We Look For
Significant experience leading AI, machine learning, data science, or advanced analytics teams in a technology-driven environment.
Hands-on expertise designing, building, and deploying cloud-based AI/ML platforms and services, preferably on AWS.
Practical experience with AWS SageMaker and related cloud-native services for AI/ML model development, deployment, monitoring, and automation.
Practical experience designing and deploying generative AI and agentic systems, including large language models, tool use, retrieval, agent orchestration, evaluation, observability, and production-grade AI architectures.
Experience developing multimodal AI solutions involving structured and unstructured data.
Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives from concept through production deployment.
Demonstrated ability to translate clinical, customer, product, and business needs into AI platform strategy, technical roadmaps, and investment priorities.
Strong software engineering and platform architecture background, including APIs, scalable services, security, DevOps/MLOps, and enterprise-grade cloud systems.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage executive stakeholders, technical teams, customers, and cross-functional partners.
Ability to balance innovation with practical delivery, risk management, compliance, and business impact.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in life sciences, clinical trials, regulated healthcare technology, or another highly regulated and data-intensive industry.
Familiarity with regulatory considerations, validation practices, privacy, and security requirements.
Strong experience delivering AI-enabled SaaS products or enterprise platforms at scale.
Advanced degree in computer science, engineering, data science, AI/ML, biomedical informatics, or a related field.
