Texas Research International (TRI) is seeking a Junior Software & Systems Specialist to help develop, support, and improve the technology that drives our business operations.


This role sits at the intersection of software development, business systems, data, automation, and artificial intelligence. The ideal candidate enjoys solving practical business problems, connecting systems, and finding smarter ways to work through technology.

The position offers hands-on exposure to Acumatica ERP, software development, APIs and integrations, data, and emerging AI tools with opportunities to take projects from concept through implementation.


What You’ll Do

  • Support and enhance Acumatica ERP: Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve our Acumatica environment while developing solutions that support evolving business needs.
  • Build practical software solutions: Develop internal tools, dashboards, integrations, automations, and applications that solve real operational challenges.
  • Connect business systems: Design and maintain integrations that enable reliable data flow between applications and reduce manual processes.
  • Apply AI to the workplace: Leverage AI coding assistants and develop AI-enabled workflows to improve productivity, automation, and decision-making.
  • Own solutions end-to-end: Work with stakeholders to understand requirements, develop solutions, test and deploy changes, and maintain clear documentation.
  • Strengthen the data layer: Develop queries, reports, data pipelines, and other tools that provide accurate, accessible information for business leaders.
  • Partner across the organization: Collaborate directly with technical and non-technical stakeholders to identify opportunities for process and technology improvements.


Requirements


Required Qualifications

  • Strong ability to translate business needs into practical technical solutions.
  • Solid programming fundamentals with experience in one or more languages such as C#, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, relational databases, and data concepts.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and an interest in expanding the use of AI in software development and business operations.
  • Understanding of how applications, databases, APIs, and system integrations work together.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Analytical, curious, and solutions-oriented approach to problem solving.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with Acumatica or another ERP system, such as NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, or Sage.
  • Experience with Salesforce, including Flow, Apex, APIs, or integrations with other business systems.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
  • Full-stack web development experience, including technologies such as React, Vite, and REST APIs.
  • Experience developing APIs, system integrations, or data pipelines.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Exposure to accounting, finance, business operations, or ERP-driven processes.
