H&R Block’s purpose is simple: To provide help and inspire confidence in our clients and communities everywhere. We’ve been true to that purpose since brothers Henry and Richard Bloch founded our company in 1955. Since then, we’ve prepared approximately 800 million tax returns and grown to have approximately 12,000 offices throughout the United States and around the world. We know that tax needs and situations change from year to year. That’s why we offer new and innovative ways to prepare and file taxes so clients can choose what suits them best. We are a people company first and a tax company second. With this in mind, we deliver care in every interaction, conversation, and at each touchpoint. That’s how we build long-lasting relationships with clients, communities, and associates. People who join H&R Block say it feels like being part of something bigger. A place with an amazing and storied history, but with a strong and urgent focus on the future. Maybe it's because our company still has the feeling of ‘family’ serving as the foundation for our associates and franchisees who bring our purpose to life each day. Maybe it’s how determined, forward thinking and innovative we are, or how accessible our leadership is. We believe it’s all those things, and much more. Our ideas are rooted in unique and diverse perspectives fueled by curiosity and creativity. We’re not afraid to try new things, and never rest on past success. We are passionate in the way we advocate for each other, for our clients, and most importantly, we not only say we are better together…we truly believe it!

Job description

About the Role:
This position sits at the intersection of communications strategy and channel operations, leading both field support communications and the platforms, tools, and infrastructure that enable effective two-way engagement across the organization. The role is responsible for ensuring the right messages reach the right audiences while optimizing and managing the digital channels, systems, and engagement tools that support internal communications. Success in this position comes from balancing high-quality, field-focused communications with the operational excellence required to deliver them at scale. The ideal candidate moves seamlessly between strategic and operational work, partnering with communications leaders to plan and execute field communications while serving as the in-house expert on intranet management, audience segmentation, engagement tools, and the systems that power organizational communication. Strong organizational skills, platform expertise, and a genuine service-oriented mindset are essential.

Day to day, you'll...

  • Develop and execute communications for field audiences, translating complex business updates into clear, timely, and actionable messaging aligned to business priorities
  • Partner with business leaders and subject matter experts to manage communications intake, planning, content development, audience targeting, distribution, and follow-through
  • Coordinate recurring communications, leadership messaging, and special projects while managing communications calendars and sequencing to improve visibility and reduce overlap
  • Serve as a primary liaison for intranet platform operations, partnering with IT and cross-functional teams to support enhancements, troubleshoot issues, and optimize user experience
  • Own governance and administration of intranet engagement tools, including qualitative feedback channels, news comment moderation, and two-way employee engagement capabilities
  • Partner with internal events teams to support company-wide broadcasts, testing streaming technology and managing communications during system outages or other business continuity events
  • Lead audience segmentation strategy and execution, ensuring communications reach the right audiences through accurate targeting and distribution practices
  • Monitor and analyze channel performance, site traffic, news engagement, and search behavior to identify insights and improve communication effectiveness
  • Manage communications content governance, records retention, and archiving processes while coordinating stakeholder notifications and next steps
  • Support and enable a network of 250+ intranet content contributors by providing training, guidance, governance, and ongoing support to strengthen communication capabilities across the organization
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or the equivalent through a combination of education and related work experience
  • 5 years minimum related work experience
  • Strong background in technical and operational writing
  • High level of critical thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to "connect the dots" to understand processes that must be communicated to field audiences
  • Experience managing intake, workflow, and approval processes for communications
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting field-facing or operational audiences in a large, matrixed organization
  • Background in communications planning, editorial calendar management, and message development
  • Familiarity with intranet platforms, digital workplace tools, or communications technology (SharePoint experience a plus)
  • Ability to streamline processes and build documentation that supports team consistency and scalability
  • Strong judgment in prioritizing work, managing ambiguity, and knowing when to escalate
  • Experience supporting senior communications leaders or working in a high-volume communications environment
