Job description

Overview: This role will serve as PCONA’s subject matter expert for the federal government sector and is responsible for the development and implementation of strategic initiatives. The Business Development Manager will work alongside the federal government industry sales team to identify, develop, and promote solutions consisting of the full line of award-winning Panasonic TOUGHBOOK Solutions into the federal government market. Responsibilities:

Market & Solutions Development

  • Understand the federal government landscape and sector trends in order to identify, develop, and market new federal government solutions and new sub-sector opportunities in order to drive current revenue objective achievement and grow the long-term federal government sales pipeline 
  • Collaborate with the ISV, Integrator, Product Management and Solutions Architecture teams to identify, evaluate, recruit, build, and capitalize upon appropriate partnerships with strategic federal government solutions providers
  • Work with industry customers and federal government sales team members to identify, prioritize, and build business cases for new product development and product feature requests 

 

Subject Matter Expertise

  • Serve as the federal government sector subject matter expert within PCONA and interface as such with the different stakeholders within the organization—including federal government sales, marketing, and product management and engineering teams
  • Collect, analyze, and disseminate key federal government market news, customer data, product trends, and competitive information in order to educate and provide market readiness the PCONA sales force and its channel partners
  • Serve as the voice of PCONA for the federal government sector in public relations & media opportunities to build federal government market awareness for Panasonic
  • Promote PCONA solutions offerings to the federal government sector and reseller channel through presentations, training sessions, and speaking engagements
  • Identify and actively engage with federal government associations in order to position Panasonic as a leader in the federal government market

 

Strategic Marketing Development

  • Develop and maintain annual strategic plan for the federal government sector, in cooperation with the federal government business unit, segment leaders, and marketing teams
  • Work with the Marketing team in the development & execution of federal government market messaging, marketing strategies, sales promotions, and other tactics designed to generate market awareness for Panasonic, produce actionable leads, and grow the pipeline for the federal government sales team
  • Work with the Marketing team to identify and develop beneficial federal government resources—such as sales presentations and collateral pieces—for the PCONA sales team and its channel partners to better attract and close sales opportunities 
  • Deliver regular federal government market research and competitive positioning/pricing analysis to sales management
  • Organize regular federal government customer advisory event(s) to collect direct feedback from end-users

 


This individual must also:

  • Maintain a high level of awareness of all PCONA offerings
  • Work closely with the federal government sales team to develop, manage, and audit the annual marketing development funds (MDF) budget for the federal government sector
  • Manage special products to drive the goals of the federal government sector and PSCNA as a whole
  • Assist the federal government industry sales team as necessary to reach annual sales quota

 

 

Required Skills & Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years work experience in the federal government sector
  • Extremely proficient in the trends, terminology, customer requirements, and key players of the federal government sector
  • Considerable experience and expertise with federal purchasing processes and contracts
  • Thorough understanding of Input, FedSources and/or other federal government opportunity management systems
  • Highly motivated, entrepreneurial, self-starter. Willingness and ability to prioritize tasks, set daily action items, and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Superior organization and time management skills. Detail oriented with excellent follow-through and follow-up
  • Diligent work ethic. Willingness to take initiative and ownership of strategic projects and move deliverables to completion
  • Flexible, adaptable team player with strong interpersonal skills. Resourcefulness to effectively navigate the internal organization to resolve issues and achieve objectives.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent oral/written communication and presentation skills
  • Strong computer skills with a high level of competence in the areas of email, spreadsheets, AI tools and presentation development

 

Ideal Asset

  • Broad experience & knowledge across multiple areas of the federal government
  • Significant experience using and/or promoting business-to-business technologies to the federal government similar to those offered by PCONA, specifically in the mobile technology space.
  • Ability to identify new business opportunities and areas for improvement.  Communication skills to present the opportunity and achieve buy-in.  Conviction to drive to their completion. 
  • Experience leading strategic projects and delivering results with cross-departmental teams
  • Experience developing, presenting, and executing strategic plans and business cases to achieve buy-in of necessary stakeholders
  • Ideal candidate will bring to Panasonic a network of end-user and partner contacts within the federal government sector with which to build the business

 

Education Requirements

  • B.S. in business/marketing or other degree with focus relevant to the federal government—although not a requirement—is a positive for this position

The salary range listed below is just one component of Panasonic's total package. Actual compensation varies depending on the individual's knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives. *The minimum hourly wage for this role will be the greater of the posted range, or minimum wage for the location where the employee will be working, subject to local minimum wage requirements.
