Job description

THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Team Leader of the Liability Specialists within the Eligibility Team, you will be responsible for providing proactive support to the claims team relating to the assessment of liability and the determination of claims.

The role involves the investigating, strategising, tracking, follow up and determination of complex claims to achieve the best possible outcome.

This position will require a high level of collaboration with the Claims Services Business Unit and the Technical Specialist Team to ensure proactive and accurate liability assessments of all claims.

This will be a full time, permanent position based in the Melbourne office, with flexibility to work from home up to 3 days per week.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assess all aspects of liability on your allocated claims pursuant to legislation, guidelines and authorised limits

  • Meet required time frames and keep all key stakeholders informed of progress

  • Proactively manage claim determinations for complex claims, ensuring clear documentation of actions throughout the determination process

  • Maintain accuracy of claim determination data in Worksafes and EML’s systems

ABOUT YOU

  • Previous experience handling claims liability decisions and/or a background in worker’s compensation would be advantageous

  • High level of resilience and a willingness to hold complex conversations  

  • High attention to detail and organisational skills

  • Effective communication and conflict resolution skills

  • Effectively listen and understand the needs of the customer
