Position Overview
PulseLearning is seeking a highly skilled eLearning Developer to transform completed instructional design storyboards into polished, engaging, visually compelling, and technically sophisticated digital learning experiences.
This is a hands-on development and visual production role, not an Instructional Designer role. Our Instructional Designers are responsible for learning strategy, content structure, and instructional design. The eLearning Developer is responsible for bringing that vision to life through exceptional technical development, interactivity, animation, illustration, and visual execution.
The ideal candidate is an advanced Articulate Storyline 360 and Rise developer who can move well beyond standard templates. You should be comfortable building custom interactions using variables, triggers, states, branching scenarios, and other advanced Storyline functionality while also bringing strong visual design, animation, and illustration capabilities.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in both the technical quality and visual finish of every learning experience.
Key Responsibilities
eLearning Development
- Develop engaging and highly polished eLearning courses from completed storyboards provided by Instructional Designers.
- Build advanced learning experiences using Articulate Storyline 360 and Articulate Rise.
- Develop sophisticated Storyline interactions using variables, triggers, states, layers, conditions, branching scenarios, and custom interactions.
- Create interactive learning experiences that go beyond standard templates and out-of-the-box functionality.
- Develop scenario-based learning, simulations, knowledge checks, assessments, and other interactive learning components.
- Configure and publish learning content using standards such as SCORM and xAPI.
- Test and troubleshoot courses to ensure reliable functionality across supported browsers, devices, and learning platforms.
- Optimize courses for performance, usability, accessibility, and learner experience.
Animation, Illustration & Visual Development
- Create custom 2D animation, motion graphics, and animated learning elements that enhance learner engagement and understanding.
- Develop original illustrations, icons, characters, graphics, and other visual assets to support course content.
- Use tools such as Adobe After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop, or comparable applications to create and enhance digital learning assets.
- Apply strong visual design principles to ensure consistency, clarity, and high-quality presentation.
- Translate storyboard concepts into visually engaging learning experiences rather than relying primarily on stock templates or pre-built assets.
- Maintain a high standard of visual quality and attention to detail throughout the development process.
Advanced & Technical Development
- Use advanced Storyline functionality to create custom learning interactions and experiences.
- Troubleshoot technical issues involving course logic, triggers, variables, publishing, LMS compatibility, and learner interactions.
- Identify creative technical solutions when standard authoring functionality does not meet project requirements.
- Ensure courses are technically sound, scalable, maintainable, and compatible with client learning environments.
AI-Assisted Development
- Use modern generative AI and AI-assisted development tools to improve efficiency, creativity, and production quality.
- Apply AI tools appropriately to support visual development, illustration, ideation, asset creation, and development workflows.
- Demonstrate curiosity and adaptability as new AI capabilities and development technologies emerge.
- Use AI responsibly and in accordance with client requirements, confidentiality standards, and PulseLearning policies.
Accessibility & Quality Assurance
- Develop learning experiences with accessibility and usability in mind.
- Follow accessibility standards and established eLearning development best practices.
- Conduct thorough functional testing and quality assurance before delivery.
- Ensure interactions, navigation, animations, graphics, audio, and assessments function as intended.
- Incorporate feedback from Instructional Designers, Project Managers, Quality teams, and clients while maintaining development quality and consistency.
Collaboration & Project Delivery
- Work closely with Instructional Designers, Project Managers, graphic designers, animators, and other members of the learning development team.
- Build courses according to approved storyboards and established project requirements.
- Communicate proactively regarding technical challenges, development considerations, timelines, and potential solutions.
- Manage multiple development assignments while meeting agreed project deadlines.
- Participate in development reviews and incorporate feedback efficiently.
- Contribute ideas and technical expertise that continuously improve the quality of PulseLearning's digital learning solutions.
