Job description

Get reward right and people stay, perform and talk about their employer for all the right reasons. Get it wrong and even the strongest culture quietly leaks talent.

Job Overview

Our UK-based client is hiring a Compensation and Benefits Specialist to take full ownership of reward across their growing business. This is a full-time, fully remote position for a South African professional who pairs analytical precision with absolute discretion. You will benchmark, design and administer the salary structures and benefits programmes that keep the business competitive and its people committed.

About Our Client

Our client is an established UK company that treats fair, transparent reward as a growth lever rather than an admin task. With a team that is scaling steadily, they want pay decisions grounded in data instead of guesswork, and they are investing in a dedicated specialist to make that happen. You will work closely with HR and finance leadership and be trusted with meaningful ownership from your first month.

Key Responsibilities

- Benchmark salaries against UK and international market data and maintain accurate, defensible pay bands

- Administer benefits programmes end-to-end, from enrolments and amendments to renewals and provider negotiations

- Run the annual compensation review cycle, including modelling scenarios, budgets and approval packs

- Prepare accurate, fully documented payroll inputs for every reward change

- Track legislative and compliance developments affecting pay and benefits, updating policies before they become problems

- Build clear reports and dashboards so leadership can see reward costs and trends at a glance

What You Will Be Doing Day-to-Day

Expect a rhythm of focused analytical work and steady collaboration. You will maintain benchmarking data, answer employee benefits queries with patience and clarity, prepare monthly reward reports, and work with finance to keep costs forecast and controlled. During review season you become the engine room of the process: building models, sanity-checking proposals and ensuring every decision is documented. Throughout it all, you protect confidentiality without exception, because in this role trust is the whole job.

If you are a detail-driven professional based in South Africa who wants reward work with real scope and a long-term remote career, this role will stretch you in the best way.

Requirements

- 4+ years' experience in compensation, benefits or reward analysis

- Excellent written and spoken English, able to explain reward decisions clearly and confidently

- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, including modelling and lookups, plus experience with HRIS platforms

- Proven reliability: stable fibre internet, backup power for load shedding, and a professional home office

- Strong working knowledge of payroll inputs, benefits administration and compliance requirements

- Absolute discretion when handling sensitive salary and personal data

Full-time remote position working for a UK-based employer. Competitive salary paid in ZAR. Long-term stable role. Supportive team environment. Direct access to founder-led business.
