AHEAD is seeking a Senior Technical Consultant to join the Storage Delivery team. This is a customer-facing, delivery-focused role responsible for leading the design, implementation, migration, and optimization of enterprise storage solutions across data center and cloud environments. The candidate for this role must have extensive experience leading, designing, deploying, and testing modern data center, Cloud, and hybrid storage infrastructure.
The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on experience across block, file, object, and unstructured data storage; strong SAN and data mobility skills; and the ability to lead complex delivery workstreams from discovery through execution. This role is well suited for a senior consultant who can translate business and technical requirements into practical solutions, execute with quality, and serve as a trusted advisor to both customers and internal teams.
This position is remote and expected to support project-based delivery, maintenance windows, and occasional after-hours work tied to migrations, cutovers, and escalations.
Lead the design and implementation of enterprise storage solutions for performance, scalability, recoverability, and operational simplicity across on-premises and cloud environments.
Plan and execute file, object, and unstructured data migrations, technology refreshes, and data mobility initiatives with minimal business disruption.
Lead block storage migrations including interoperability analysis, LUN mapping, zoning, masking, multipathing validation, replication planning, cutover execution, rollback preparation, and post-migration validation.
Design and deploy data center and cloud storage platforms including Dell PowerMax/VMAX, PowerScale/Isilon, PowerStore, NetApp ONTAP and StorageGRID, Pure FlashArray and FlashBlade, Nasuni, Cloudian, and related technologies.
Design, configure, and deploy SAN infrastructure including Cisco and Brocade Fibre Channel switching.
Support and troubleshoot replication and business continuity technologies such as SRDF, SyncIQ, Pure replication, SnapMirror, and other array-based data protection tools.
Serve as the primary technical lead during delivery engagements, customer meetings, cutovers, and escalation events.
Collaborate with project managers, architects, sales teams, and customer stakeholders to align scope, timelines, risks, and technical outcomes.
Develop high-quality technical documentation including solution designs, implementation plans, migration runbooks, as-built documentation, and knowledge transfer materials.
Mentor junior consultants and promote delivery consistency, technical quality, and customer satisfaction across the team.
Contribute to continuous improvement of delivery methods through automation, reusable tooling, documentation standards, and practical use of AI-enabled productivity tools.
10+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise storage infrastructure delivery, professional services, or complex customer-facing consulting environments.
Strong experience with enterprise storage platforms such as Dell EMC PowerMax/VMAX, PowerScale/Isilon, Unity, PowerStore, Pure Storage, NetApp, Nasuni, Cloudian, and similar technologies.
Proven experience with SAN design, deployment, migration, and interoperability analysis.
Strong hands-on experience with unstructured data migration tools and methods, including platforms such as Komprise, DataDobi, and native migration tooling.
Experience migrating SMB and NFS workloads, including multiprotocol environments and associated dependencies.
Deep understanding of file, object, block, and cloud storage environments, including lifecycle assessment, planning, and migration.
Experience designing and supporting storage solutions across major hyperscale cloud platforms including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud.
Strong Automation and scripting skills for automating infrastructure and operational workflows using tools such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, JavaScript, Ansible, Terraform, or Jenkins.
Strong troubleshooting skills across storage arrays, hosts, switches, connectivity layers, and backup ecosystems.
Experience supporting Windows, Linux, and virtualized infrastructure environments.
Working knowledge of Active Directory and DNS as they relate to storage and file services delivery.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain risks, decisions, and recommendations to both technical and business stakeholders.
Strong documentation skills, including solution documentation, diagrams, implementation plans, and as-built deliverables.
Experience leading technical workstreams independently on multi-phase or high-complexity customer engagements.
Experienced with AI productivity tools such as Copilot and practical uses of AI to improve delivery quality, speed, and consistency.
Holds relevant partner or vendor certifications across storage, SAN, cloud, or data mobility technologies.
Experience mentoring consultants and helping raise delivery standards across a broader team.
Takes technical ownership of delivery engagements and leads as a subject matter expert.
Delivers projects with strong quality, clear communication, and minimal unplanned disruption.
Builds credibility quickly with customer engineering teams and internal AHEAD stakeholders.
Identifies risks early, communicates clearly, and drives issues through resolution.
Balances deep technical execution with customer service, business awareness, and team collaboration.
Strong Mentoring capabilities to teach and mentor less qualified individuals.
