Job description


As a life and health insurance financial security advisor, you help serve, prospect for, solicit, and develop and maintain business relationships with members and clients. You help sell life and health insurance products and services through multiple distribution channels based on member/client needs and current strategies and practices. Your focus areas include individual insurance, group insurance and retirement savings plans, insurance brokerage, segregated funds, travel insurance and life and health insurance claims settlement. You promote and sell financial security products and services. You analyze member/client needs and recommend personalized solutions. The ability to communicate effectively and thoroughly understand clients’ expressed needs is therefore essential. You balance sales objectives, sound and prudent risk management, profitability and member/client satisfaction. You develop and maintain personal business relationships with clients who have complex, diverse needs. The ability to tailor your approach as needed is therefore essential.

You advise and assist current and potential members and clients. You represent Desjardins and enter the organization into agreements with clients. You also have opportunities to establish and negotiate product and service terms in accordance with standards and procedures. Interpersonal savvy is therefore essential. More specifically, you will be required to:

  • Sell and provide advice on life, health, disability and critical illness insurance products
  • Assess customer satisfaction and service quality, follow up and make improvements as needed. Establish and maintain good relationships with referral sources. Help target and analyze potential member/client files
  • Act on business opportunities and present information to partners so that members and clients can reach their financial goals
  • Monitor the industry to identify business development opportunities and stay on top of new products and trends.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • A minimum of one year of relevant experience
  • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
  • Representative’s certificate in damage insurance (AMF)
  • Knowledge of French is required
  • Must have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle
  • Available to work Monday to Friday, including two evening per week
