Job description

This position is within a subsidiary of the Desjardins Group called ICPEI. ICPEI offers market-leading home, auto and commercial insurance solutions sold exclusively through a network of brokers across Canada. We are growing our Commercial Underwriting team to help support our broker line of business. We have positions available for both Junior and Senior Commercial Underwriters across Ontario - come grow with us at Desjardins! As a valued member of the Commercial Underwriting Team, you will have the opportunity to enhance and sharpen your underwriting skills. You will be responsible for new business production, building strong relationships with our broker network and actively promoting the ICPEI brand. More specifically, you will be required to:

  • Identify and underwrite new business, process renewals and endorsements.
  • Build strong relationships with brokers and maintain high levels of service.
  • Participate in production trips, broker visits and corporate functions as required.
  • Adhere to Company guidelines, contracts, authority limits and standards.
  • Analyze market trends, risk profitability, exposures and hazards.
  • Contribute to the development of the Commercial team.

What you bring to the table

  • Previous underwriting experience in personal or commercial insurance is required.
  • Previous experience working with insurance brokers and broker distribution channels
