Job description

About the client:

Our client is a fast-paced personal injury law firm dedicated to achieving direct, impactful outcomes for their injured clients. Operating out of Chicago, the firm focuses on proactive case management and dedicated representation across pre-litigation and trial phases. They are expanding their team with remote support to handle an active caseload and streamline overall legal operations.

About the role:

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Litigation Paralegal to support active personal injury cases from pre-litigation through resolution and trial. Working directly with attorneys, you will take hands-on ownership of case development, document drafting, medical records coordination, and court filings.

This role requires someone who works independently, manages deadlines effortlessly, and maintains a high level of empathy and professionalism when communicating with clients.

Personal injury litigation experience is preferred.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Manage and organize case files from intake through resolution, ensuring all matters progress smoothly and no details fall through the cracks.

  • Draft, review, and file legal documents including pleadings, motions, discovery requests, responses, and routine correspondence.

  • Coordinate and communicate regularly with clients, medical providers, insurance adjusters, and opposing counsel.

  • Prepare and organize medical records, billing statements, liens, and supporting documentation for demand packages and trial preparation.

  • Assist attorneys with deposition preparation, trial binders, exhibit organization, and day-to-day legal support.

  • Track and manage court dates, filing deadlines, and statutes of limitations using case management software.

  • Conduct targeted legal research and summarize findings for attorney review.

  • Execute electronic filing (e-filing) in state and federal courts as required.

Who are we looking for?

  • 5+ years of experience as a Litigation Paralegal (personal injury experience strongly preferred).

  • Solid understanding of US litigation timelines and general civil procedure; familiarity with Illinois court filing requirements is a plus.

  • Demonstrated experience with medical record review, lien resolution, and comprehensive demand package preparation.

  • Proficiency with legal case management platforms (e.g., SmartAdvocate, Filevine, Clio, or similar tools).

  • Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills for client-facing and attorney interactions.

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple active files simultaneously without constant oversight.

  • Empathetic, composed, and professional when handling sensitive interactions with injured clients.

  • US legal experience is required
