JOB SUMMARY

The Systems Administrator (Microsoft Windows) provides specialized support, maintenance, and sustainment for Windows-based virtual environments within the CSM. This role ensures that Windows Server systems remain secure, stable, and compliant with DISA Data Impact Level 2, 4, and 5 standards. You will manage the integration of on-premises applications with Azure services while overseeing critical directory and update services.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Windows Server Lifecycle & Environment Management

    • Deliver routine maintenance, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, upgrades, and break-fix support for Microsoft Windows Server Datacenter 2022 (Standard and Enterprise or later).

    • Scale and maintain Windows Server environments to enable hybrid cloud environments between on-premises applications and Azure services.

    • Manage virtual machines, servers, clusters, Windows PCs, and highly available hyper-converged infrastructures.

    • Provision and maintain Azure Dedicated Hosts and Host Groups to provide hardware isolation for isolated workloads.

    • Configure and maintain Azure Hybrid Benefits for Windows Servers to optimize licensing costs.

  • Core Directory & Update Services

    • Provide maintenance, configuration, and troubleshooting for essential Microsoft Support Services, including Active Directory (AD), Domain Controllers (DC), Domain Name Services (DNS), and Windows Patching.

    • Manage network information and directory services specifically on the Microsoft Windows Active Directory system.

    • Maintain the Microsoft Windows Server Update Service (WSUS) to manage, distribute, and install updates for Microsoft products within the CSM.

    • Configure and scale backup solutions using Azure Backup or managed snapshots to ensure data protection and disaster recovery.

  • Cybersecurity & Compliance

    • Ensure strict DISA Secure Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliance using SCAP tools or the Navy eVALUATE tool.

    • Proactively identify and remediate security vulnerabilities to maintain rigorous compliance standards.

    • Support environments adhering to DoD SRG and NIST SP 800-53 security controls.


QUALIFICATIONS

Basic:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

  • 2–4 years of cloud engineering experience.

  • Expertise in Azure administration and cloud architecture.

  • Deep knowledge of DISA STIG security standards and SCAP tools.

  • Proficiency in database management and security, including MS SQL and Azure SQL.

  • Experience with CI/CD and DevSecOps toolchains.

  • Current Security+ certification.

  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one.


Preferred:

  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance.

  • Active Security+ certification.

  • Professional cloud certification, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Associate.

  • Proven experience implementing DISA STIG configurations and supporting DoD SRG compliance.
