Job description

This is a remote position.

Role: PL/I Developer

Location: Remote

Language: English

Start: ASAP

Duration: 12 months

Utilisation: â€‹Full-time

Eligibility: Candidates must be resident in and hold the right to work in the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland.

For a long-term project with one of our clients in the insurance sector, we are currently looking for urgent support in PL/I development.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain and enhance PL/I applications running on IBM mainframe and enterprise systems
  • Analyse and troubleshoot issues within existing legacy codebases
  • Support ongoing modernisation and stabilisation efforts across critical business applications
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including business analysts and other technical specialists
  • Ensure code changes meet quality, performance and compliance standards typical of an insurance environment
  • Document technical changes and contribute to knowledge transfer within the team


Requirements

Eligibility: Candidates must be resident in and hold the right to work in the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland.

Language: English

Required skills:
  • PL/I (Programming Language One) development
  • Experience developing and maintaining applications on IBM mainframe and enterprise systems
  • Confident working within complex legacy system landscapes
  • Background note: PL/I is a structured high-level programming language combining elements of Fortran, Algol and COBOL. It is used primarily on IBM mainframes and in mission-critical enterprise applications
