Job description

With a career at The Home Depot, you can be yourself and also be part of something bigger.

Position Purpose:

As the Senior Manager of Cloud Engineering, you will lead the teams that build and operate the platforms, tooling, and cost discipline that let enable every product team at The Home Depot to build, ship, and run in the cloud efficiently and safely. You will own a connected set of responsibilities: the paved-path platform foundations, services, and guardrails that teams build on; the deployment and delivery tooling that makes releases fast, safe, and low-friction; and the cost management and optimization practices that keep cloud spend efficient and sustainable as the business scales. You will champion a paved-path approach that makes the right way the easy way, reducing friction so teams can develop, deploy, and support their applications with less toil. You will partner with our most strategic cloud and tooling vendors to ensure the right capabilities are readily available across the Enterprise, and you will bring an experiment-driven, metrics-informed mindset — including modern AI and agentic workflows — to how the platform evolves. You will partner closely with Platform Reliability Engineering to balance reliability, developer experience, and cost, and you will grow the next generation of cloud engineering talent, leading teams focused on building these capabilities and sharing them across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates new technologies for adoption across the enterprise
  • Helps to identify and demonstrate emerging technologies for adoption by product teams
  • 20% Delivery & Execution:
  • Collaborates and pairs with product team members (UX, engineering, and product management) to create secure, reliable, scalable software solutions
  • Documents, reviews and ensures that all quality and change control standards are met
  • Writes custom code or scripts to automate infrastructure, monitoring services, and test cases
  • Works with vendors and partners for the successful implementation of critical tooling and platforms
  • Creates meaningful dashboards, logging, alerting, and responses to ensure that issues are captured and addressed proactively
  • Contributes to enterprise-wide tools to drive destructive testing, automation, and engineering empowerment
  • Participates in and leads review board sessions to drive consistency across the enterprise
  • Makes suggestions that help drive operational excellence to create internal customer satisfaction and meet operational metrics
  • Fills in on product teams for engineers who are out of the office
  • 15% Support & Enablement:
  • Fields questions from engineers, product teams, or support teams
  • Monitors tools and participates in conversations to encourage collaboration across product teams
  • Learns, through reading, tutorials, and videos, new technologies and best practices being used within other technology organizations
  • Provides application support for software running in production
  • Acts as a technical escalation point for the engineers on the team
  • 45% People:
