Job description

Join us in creating a better way!

At eHealth, our mission is to expertly guide consumers through their health insurance and related options when, where, and how they prefer. We’re creating a better way – one that’s transparent and trustworthy for both our consumers externally and our employees internally.

Move your career forward while connecting countless people to the life- changing, quality care they deserve. Our diverse team of innovators supports one another in solving some of the toughest challenges. We’re always on the lookout for creative opportunities to do right by our customers, and each other. Together, we’re creating a better way to work, united by our common passion to make a difference.

eHealth is seeking motivated, detail-oriented individuals to join our Online Chat Team as Seasonal Chat Screening Agents to assist our customers during the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP, October–December). This role is a high-volume, fast-paced position focused on delivering timely, accurate support to our customers via online chat. The ideal candidate thrives under pressure, communicates clearly in writing, and can confidently manage multiple conversations simultaneously without sacrificing accuracy or customer experience.

The primary purpose of this position is to support online customers through inbound chat by providing accurate information, qualifying their needs, and connecting them with the right resources, all while managing a high volume of simultaneous conversations.

This is a temporary position that will end on December 8, 2026.  Must be able to work a shift between the hours of 5:00 AM-8:00 PM PST, including weekends as needed. Available to work extended hours and overtime during the Annual Enrollment Period, October 15th to December 7th.

What you’ll do:

  • Work a shift between 5:00 AM – 8:00 PM PST, Monday – Friday (including scheduled overtime, weekends, and holidays)

  • Handle 4–6 simultaneous inbound chats, maintaining conversation accuracy, organization, and response timeliness across all active sessions.

  • Qualify customer needs by gathering key information and routing customers to the appropriate department or licensed agent when applicable.

  • Answer general insurance questions and provide guidance on website navigation, plan viewing, and enrollment processes.

  • Deliver accurate, complete information using available tools and resources, without providing advice or recommendations.

  • Maintain a consistently positive, customer-first tone across all chat interactions.

  • Escalate unresolved inquiries to the appropriate team or licensed representative promptly and professionally.

  • Remain organized and detail-oriented in a fast-paced environment where managing multiple concurrent conversations is the expectation, not the exception.

  • Demonstrate proficiency with multiple software platforms and troubleshoot minor technical issues as they arise.

  • Demonstrate eHealth’s values in your behaviors, practices and decisions.

Who you are:

  • You have 1+ years of customer service chat-based experience.

  • You have excellent written communication skills, correct grammar, spelling, and professional tone are essential in this role.

  • You have strong typing speed and accuracy required (minimum 50+ WPM; with the ability to manage 4–6 live chats simultaneously).

  • You have solid computer skills including proficiency with standard software and the ability to navigate multiple platforms at once.

  • You have high speed hardwired internet connection with a minimum of 50 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload.

  • You have the ability to stay organized, prioritize effectively, and maintain accuracy under high-volume conditions.
