Job description

Better Money

Strike is the Bitcoin company. With Strike, you can buy and sell bitcoin, pay bills, and borrow against your holdings. From individuals to businesses, Strike is purpose-built for every step of the Bitcoin journey. Available in more than 100 countries — including the U.S., Europe, Latin America, and Africa — Strike is building a better financial system powered by Bitcoin. Bitcoin is better money. Strike is how you use it.

Role

Strike is looking for an AML Investigator to join a fast-growing bitcoin company.

The purpose of this role is to conduct day-to-day transaction monitoring and investigations across Strike's AML program, from alert review through to suspicious activity reporting. Your responsibilities will include dispositioning AML and blockchain alerts, tracing on-chain activity, and documenting investigative conclusions in a defensible record. You will also support the wider compliance program as priorities shift. This is a hands-on, cross-functional, highly-engaged role.

As part of Strike's Compliance team, AML Investigators have a direct impact on all business areas and their work informs critical business decisions across Strike. You will have the opportunity to take ownership, drive change, and shape the success of the compliance program.

The ideal candidate will have solid investigative experience in a fintech, payments, or digital asset environment, a keen interest in the dynamic world of bitcoin, and will thrive in an ambitious startup environment. You must be comfortable with a team-first approach in a remote work environment.

This role is open to candidates in Americas or EU time zones.

Responsibilities

  • Alert Investigations: Investigate and disposition transaction monitoring alerts across a range of internal AML and blockchain rules, including potential fraud, structuring, and other unusual activity, documenting conclusions in a defensible audit trail. [Sanctions/PEP]
  • Blockchain Analysis: Use blockchain analytics tooling to review on-chain counterparty exposure and support tracing on flagged activity.
  • SAR Support: Compile evidence, transaction records, and case summaries supporting suspicious activity determinations and SAR narrative drafting.
  • AI-Enabled Investigations: Use AI tooling to move through casework faster and more thoroughly, and feed back what works as we build out how these tools support investigations.
  • Compliance Operations Support: Investigations are the core of this role, but not all of it. Expect to support the wider compliance program as priorities shift, including external requests, onboarding and screening queues, complaints, and remediation work.
  • Risk Escalations: Detect and escalate any anomalies or suspicious behaviors in line with our AML and fraud policies.

Requirements

  • Experience: At least 2 years in AML, financial crime, or fraud investigations, including a minimum of 1 year dedicated to blockchain or digital asset investigations, ideally in a high-volume environment.
  • Bitcoin Tracing: Working ability to follow bitcoin transactions across hops and interpret on-chain counterparty exposure, with a clear sense of what the analysis does and does not establish.
  • Analytical Prowess: Exceptional analytical abilities and attention to detail, with the ability to analyze public records, transaction, and KYC data.
  • Documentation & Narrative: Excellent written communication and narrative skills, essential for documenting investigations and crafting clear audit trails.
  • Regulatory Foundation: Working knowledge of BSA/AML obligations, OFAC sanctions basics, and common money laundering red flags and typologies.
  • Tech Savvy: Working proficiency with blockchain analytics tooling (Chainalysis, TRM Labs etc. ), open source research, KYC/case management tools, and platforms such as Zendesk.
  • AI Openness: Willingness to learn and adopt the AI tooling we use across investigations. Prior experience is not required; genuine openness to working this way is.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with a diverse customer base.
  • Independence & Teamwork: Capability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a remote, fast-paced setting, taking ownership of responsibilities. The ability to work with a high degree of urgency is critical.
  • Language Skills: English fluency is a must, with additional languages being a valuable asset.
  • Knowledge or experience of Lightning Network transactions and lightning network investigations.
