Position Overview

The Senior Manager, Scientific Communications will lead the development and execution of Veradermics' scientific communications strategy in support of Medical Affairs objectives. This individual will serve as the department's scientific writing expert and will be responsible for developing high-quality scientific content across publications, medical information, scientific congresses, and educational initiatives.

Working cross-functionally with Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, Commercial, and external investigators, this individual will translate clinical and scientific data into clear, accurate, and impactful scientific communications that support the product lifecycle.

This is a highly visible role requiring exceptional scientific writing, publication planning, project management, and the ability to independently lead multiple complex projects simultaneously.

The Senior Manager, Scientific Communications reports to the Vice President of Medical Affairs.

Key Responsibilities



Scientific Publications

  • Develop and execute Veradermics' integrated publication strategy aligned with Medical Affairs and corporate objectives.
  • Create and maintain publication plans and publication timelines.
  • Identify opportunities for manuscripts, review articles, congress abstracts, posters, oral presentations, and scientific commentaries.
  • Lead publication planning meetings and publication strategy discussions.
  • Ensure publication activities comply with Good Publication Practice (GPP), ICMJE guidelines, and company policies.


Scientific Writing

  • Serve as a key scientific writer for manuscripts, abstracts, posters, review articles, slide presentations, scientific reports, and educational materials.
  • Translate complex clinical and scientific data into clear, accurate, and publication-quality communications.
  • Partner with clinical, statistical, and medical teams to interpret study results and ensure scientific accuracy.
  • Manage internal review cycles and incorporate author and stakeholder feedback.
  • Maintain consistency of scientific messaging across Medical Affairs materials.


Manuscript Development & Journal Submission

  • Coordinate manuscript development with internal subject matter experts and external authors.
  • Lead journal selection and publication strategy.
  • Manage manuscript submissions through journal submission systems.
  • Coordinate author reviews and approvals throughout manuscript development.
  • Lead responses to peer reviewer comments and revisions through manuscript acceptance and publication.
  • Track publication metrics and maintain publication records.


Scientific Congresses

  • Lead development of congress abstracts, posters, oral presentations, and supporting scientific materials.
  • Coordinate congress submission timelines and requirements.
  • Align publication strategy with key scientific congresses.
  • Support Medical Affairs activities before, during, and after scientific meetings.


Medical Information

  • Develop, maintain, and update Medical Information Standard Response Letters (SRLs) and scientific response documents.
  • Draft evidence-based responses to unsolicited medical inquiries in collaboration with Medical Affairs and Regulatory colleagues.
  • Develop scientific FAQs and core medical information resources.
  • Ensure Medical Information content remains current, scientifically balanced, and compliant with company policies.
  • Partner with Pharmacovigilance, Clinical Development, and Regulatory Affairs to incorporate new clinical data into Medical Information resources.


Scientific Communications & Medical Affairs Content

  • Support development of scientific communication materials for external medical education activities.
  • Collaborate with Medical Affairs leadership to ensure scientific communications align with strategic priorities.


Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Clinical Development, Biostatistics, Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, Commercial, and Medical Affairs.
  • Manage external medical writing and publication vendors as needed.
  • Coordinate publication activities with external investigators and key opinion leaders.
  • Contribute to Medical Affairs strategic planning and scientific communication initiatives.


Candidate Profile | Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline required; advanced degree preferred. Equivalent combination of education and relevant scientific communications experience will be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in Scientific Communications, Publications, Medical Affairs, Medical Information, or Medical Writing within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry; experience in a small biotech environment is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience authoring peer-reviewed manuscripts, scientific congress materials, and other scientific communications.
  • Experience developing publication strategies and managing publication plans, including manuscript submission and peer review processes.
  • Exceptional scientific writing and editing skills, with the ability to critically evaluate scientific literature and communicate complex scientific data effectively.
  • Strong understanding of clinical trial methodology, statistics, and interpretation of clinical data, ideally supporting products in clinical development.
  • Knowledge of publication best practices and guidelines, including GPP and ICMJE.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to independently manage multiple complex projects and deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with experience partnering effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Experience developing Medical Information scientific content (e.g., Standard Response Letters or scientific response documents) is preferred.
  • Dermatology experience is preferred but not required. Experience leveraging AI-enabled tools to improve scientific writing efficiency while maintaining scientific integrity is a plus.
