As part of a leading online mental health service, you'll collaborate with innovative, forward-thinking professionals in a dynamic, multidisciplinary team committed to making a real difference.

The Financial Modeller & Planner will play a central role within the NHS Contract Management team, supporting the planning, negotiation and performance management of annual budgets and new contracts with NHS commissioners, NHS Trusts and system partners.

The role reports jointly to the NHS Contract Management Lead and the CFO team, contributing to financial planning across Psychiatry UK and providing the insight needed to support sound commercial and operational decisions.

The successful candidate will bring advanced financial-modelling expertise, strong commercial judgement and the ability to turn complex, unstructured data into clear, actionable insights. The role also requires effective partnership working across Finance, Operations, Product and Contracts.

This is a home-based role (applicants must reside in the UK), though occasional travel may be required for face-to-face meetings at various locations within the UK.

As our Financial Modeller & Planner, you will:

Financial Modelling and Analysis

  • Develop robust, scalable financial models to support annual planning, contract negotiations and strategic decision-making.

  • Translate unstructured inputs and complex, multivariable scenarios into commercial models that inform critical business decisions.

  • Interrogate data sources, validate their accuracy and constructively challenge assumptions to maintain the integrity of financial models.

  • Partner with Data and Analytics teams to improve data quality, structures and modelling processes.

  • Produce scenario models, sensitivity analyses and risk assessments to inform financial and contracting strategies.

  • Lead the financial analysis of new partnerships, service redesigns and growth initiatives.

  • Support financial planning across Psychiatry UK in close partnership with the CFO team.

Planning and Forecasting

  • Deliver accurate monthly, quarterly and annual forecasts covering income, activity, costs and contribution.

  • Contribute to corporate budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning cycles.

  • Identify emerging risks, issues and opportunities, recommending appropriate mitigation or action.

  • Provide clear, forward-looking insights to support operational and commercial decision-making.

Contracting and Negotiation Support

  • Translate complex financial analysis into clear, commercially focused recommendations for negotiations with NHS commissioners and system partners.

  • Prepare financial models, assumptions and supporting analysis for contract proposals and business cases.

  • Inform pricing strategies, new commercial models and collaborative partnership structures.

  • Assess the financial implications of proposed contract terms, identifying risks, opportunities and potential trade-offs.

Market and Strategic Insight

  • Develop a strong understanding of NHS commissioning, provider markets and system priorities.

  • Deliver proactive analysis to inform organisational strategy and commissioner engagement.

  • Monitor relevant policy, regulatory and market developments, assessing their potential impact on performance and growth opportunities.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Work closely with Finance, Product, Operations and Contract Management teams to align financial plans with operational capacity and strategic priorities.

  • Provide data-driven insights that improve performance, decision-making and commercial outcomes.

  • Promote rigorous financial and commercial discipline across the organisation.

  • Communicate complex financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.

Business Performance and Governance

  • Support overall business performance, with a focus on sustainable growth, margin and commissioner satisfaction.

  • Strengthen Psychiatry UK’s reputation with commissioners by providing credible analysis and supporting the development of successful partnerships.

  • Maintain high standards of governance, accuracy and financial control.

  • Ensure models, assumptions and recommendations are transparent, clearly documented and suitable for robust review.

To succeed as our Financial Modeller & Planner:
