Job description

Overview:

A Loan Operations Exceptions Specialist I plays a critical role in the day-to-day functions of the Exception Review team. This role conducts a detailed review of loan packages to ensure compliance with bank policy as well as state and federal regulations.

What You’ll Do:
  • Performs routine and basic administrative tasks at the direction of team lead or manager
  • Exercises sound judgment and discretion in the performance of duties in support of the Exception Review team
  • Perform detailed post-closing review of loan documents such as promissory notes, security agreements, deeds/mortgages for basic loan types, to ensure loan documents meet bank, regulatory and investor guidelines
  • Review supporting documents such as title work, appraisal, flood insurance, and environmental reports to ensure that lender has completed specified legal and regulatory due diligence
  • Cite document deficiency exceptions in Bank core system
  • Review trailing documents submitted by Account Officers to clear exceptions; upload trailing documents to imaging system as needed
  • Perform basic due diligence searches as needed, such as Secretary of State good standing
  • Assist Loan Officers with questions regarding exceptions, document requirements, and resolution of document-related issues
  • Meet performance standards of established production metric, quality standard of 98% accuracy and turnaround time of 45 days
  • Adhere to Corporate and Loan Operations policies and procedures as prescribed
  • Exemplify behaviors in alignment with the bank’s vision, mission, and culture; exhibit professionalism at all times
  • Provide world-class service to internal and external clients with a sense of urgency and positive attitude

  • Compliance Training:  Participate in all required compliance training, including Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering training, as well as internal and external training programs, online training, meetings, and seminars/conferences, etc.

Requirements For Success:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum one year of experience in a Loan Operations/Loan Processing/Branch environment
  • Required Skills:
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
    • Demonstrate exceptional organization and time management skills and the ability to balance competing priorities to meet multiple deadlines
    • Ability to think critically and problem solve with guidance
  • Preferred Skills:
    • Document Preparation or Document Review experience is preferred
    • Basic knowledge of Commercial and/or Retail loan documentation requirements, including collateral perfection
    • Basic knowledge of federal and state regulatory requirements
Conditions of Employment:
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background & credit check
  • This is a full-time, non-remote position that requires schedule flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Pay Range: USD $37,440.00 - USD $49,382.00 /Yr.
