The Johnson County Library seeks engaged, qualified candidates to fill the position of Technical Analyst II as part of the Library’s Information Technology team. This role will be part of the IT Help Desk supporting the library’s staff and public technology. Ideal candidates should be self-motivated with a passion for solving technical problems and a focus on providing excellent customer service! Applicants will possess strong troubleshooting skills, ability to multitask and excel in a team environment. Additional skills include excellent organization, communication, customer service and attention to detail skills with general computer hardware/software installation and troubleshooting knowledge.

 

This position works directly with the IT Customer Service Supervisor, and IT Analysts on systems that support the delivery of Library services.  The first review of applications will begin on August 18, 2026.  Duties include:

  • Provides support and resolution for users with hardware, software and applications problems; resolves user-reported problems using available tools and following procedures and policies.
  • Directs issues to the appropriate personnel for service, repair, and training; maintains record of daily data communication transactions, problems, and actions taken or installation activities; provides follow-up contact to users reporting technology related problems and issues to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Installs, configures, tests and operates desktops, laptops, workstations, service points, processing stations and other equipment; ensures proper installation of cables, operating systems, and/or appropriate software.
  • Instructs users in the use of hardware and software; identifies and communicates training needs.
  • Contributes to and creates support and cyber security processes, procedures, and documentation; assists with the development of hardware and software standards; assists in the coordination of routine projects, including designing and setting up the environment to test a proof of concept and writing test scripts.
  • Supports ordering and inventory of technology supplies and equipment as directed; assists with the removal or disposal of old supplies and equipment.
  • Supports Library AV systems and materials handling systems.
Job Requirements:

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of information technology or other relevant experience and a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record required.

Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department/Agency/Office.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Information Technology or related field.

Education/Experience Substitutions:

  • Education may be substituted for experience.  Experience may be substituted for education.

 

Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions:

  • On-call/stand by work is required.  Department and County weather essential job. 
  • On-call availability for one evening per week and one weekend per month based on existing on call schedule.
  • Lifting and transporting moderately heavy objects.
  • Eligible for limited occasional work from home based on the team’s schedule and prior approval.

All County employees may be called upon to assist other departments in a declared emergency situation.
