Job description

The Data Analyst, Level I position is a full-time employment opportunity. Reporting to the Director of Institutional Research, the Data Analyst, Level I provides data support to requests from leadership, faculty, staff, and external entities by validating and analyzing data, data mining, data submission to external sources, as well as by preparing reports to support decision-making.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform data management activities such as validating and cleaning data, ensuring data meets the set requirements to a high-level of accuracy and integrity.
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data and provide analytical support to the Office of Institutional Effectiveness, Academics, Student Affairs, and the institution at large.
  • Ensure reports are of required quality and adhere to recognized best practices in academics, data visualization, and data science.
  • Prepare data visualizations and reports for presentation of analyses and results.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with different groups/individuals.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.

Rate of Pay: $53,039-$66,299

Compensation Type: Salary at 1.0 full-time Equivalence (FTE)

Grade: 7

Compensation Guidance:

The Rate of Pay Field represents the University of Arizona’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.  The University considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, and internal equity. 

The Grade Range represents a full range of career compensation growth over time in this position and grade. The university offers compensation growth opportunities within its career architecture. The grade range for this position is $AMOUNT – $AMOUNT. Each unit typically sets starting pay between the minimum and midpoint upon hire as reflected in the Rate of Pay field above.

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University’s campuses. These reports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims. As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
