THE OPPORTUNITY

As a Life Injury Management Specialist, you will become a subject matter expert on income protection and total and permanent disability claims management practices, supporting case managers in developing the most effective return to work, return to life and recovery strategies. The purpose of this role is to provide clinical expertise and injury management support across superannuation and life insurance claims to optimise recovery, facilitate sustainable return to work outcomes, improve member experience and support sound claim decision-making.

This role will see you partner closely with claims teams, providing clinical guidance, coaching and technical expertise to support the management of complex claims. You will play a key role in identifying barriers to recovery, influencing effective case management strategies and ensuring members receive the right support throughout their recovery journey.

This will be a permanent, full-time position based in our Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne offices, with flexibility to work from home 3 days per week once fully trained.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide clinical expertise and injury management support across income protection and total and permanent disability claims to optimise recovery outcomes and support effective claims strategies.
  • Collaborate with Team Leaders and claims teams to review complex claims, identify barriers to recovery and provide guidance on treatment management and recovery strategies.
  • Participate in reviews of long duration and high-risk claims, providing recommendations regarding ongoing incapacity, claim progression and next steps.
  • Engage with treating health practitioners to review management plans and support sound claim decision-making.
  • Deliver clinical coaching and guidance to claims staff, supporting a personalised approach to claims management and improved member outcomes.
  • Identify trends, support quality assurance activities and contribute to injury management initiatives and continuous improvement opportunities.

ABOUT YOU

  • Degree qualification in Allied Health, including Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation Counselling, Psychology, Exercise Physiology or Nursing.
  • Experience or understanding of life insurance, income protection and/or total and permanent disability claims management.
  • Strong understanding of injury management principles and the ability to apply clinical expertise within a claims environment.
  • Excellent relationship building, communication and influencing skills to engage stakeholders and drive positive outcomes.
  • A strategic, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to interpret complex medical information and provide practical recommendations.
  • Passionate about supporting people through challenging circumstances and delivering a positive member experience.
