Job description

Looking for Philippines-based candidates

Job Role: Senior Architectural Draftsperson

Compensation range: $2,000 - $2,300 AUD / Monthly

Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement

Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 6 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Who We Are: At Hunt St, we help Australian companies hire top remote talent in the Philippines. For this role, you will be engaged directly by the client as an independent contractor. We are not an outsourcing agency. All of our roles are 100% remote, so you'll be able to work from home.

Who The Client Is: Our client is an established and award-recognised Australian residential home builder specialising in the design and construction of quality new homes across multiple regions in Australia.

With a strong focus on customer experience, quality workmanship, and thoughtful home design, the business supports customers throughout the entire building journey, from initial design and customisation through to approvals and construction.

Role Overview: We are looking for a Senior Architectural Draftsperson to join a growing Australian residential construction team. This role is responsible for producing accurate, high-quality architectural drawings and documentation across various stages of the residential building process; from concept and tender through to building approval and construction.

You will work closely with internal teams, customers, councils, certifiers, engineers, surveyors, and other external consultants to ensure projects are accurately documented, compliant with Australian building requirements, and ready for construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor weekly workflow, prioritize tasks, track project progress, and proactively identify and resolve issues affecting deadlines.
  • Produce accurate, high-quality architectural working drawings on time, from initial custom sketches and concept plans through to tender, contract, building approval, DA, and construction documentation.
  • Prepare and manage detailed residential drawings, including site, earthworks, retaining, floor, roof, elevations, sections, schedules, facades, kitchens, bathrooms, slabs, electrical, landscape, structural, stormwater, 3D models, and other required documentation.
  • Prepare amended plans and update documentation based on approved variations and project changes.
  • Liaise and coordinate with councils, certifiers, planners, engineers, surveyors, and other external consultants to resolve design requirements and ensure projects are ready for construction.
  • Manage building approval processes, including responding to authority requirements, preparing additional drawings and reports, and assisting with conditions of approval and application issues.
  • Prepare and maintain standard construction details, detail registries, master drawings, facades, and ArchiCAD documentation and library structures.
  • Ensure designs are safe, buildable, and compliant with applicable building codes, regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Apply quality assurance processes and checklists to maintain accuracy and consistency across all drafting and design work.
  • Review plans and documentation to identify potential issues, resolve discrepancies, and escalate risks to management when required.
  • Develop and improve drafting systems, processes, and production standards in collaboration with the Design and Drafting Manager.
  • Support the CRM team with 3D walkthrough creation and navigation when required.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of construction practices, materials, building industry trends, and relevant standards through ongoing training and professional development.
  • Follow company values, best-practice procedures, and quality standards while performing other duties reasonably required within the role.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years Australian residential drafting experience (Queensland strongly preferred).
  • Proficient with ArchiCAD or strong Australian/Queensland residential experience with willingness to learn ArchiCAD (we can provide training for exceptional candidates with the right background).
  • Strong experience producing architectural working drawings and construction documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, materials, and detailing.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify drafting and compliance issues.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a remote environment.

Work Arrangement & Expectations:

This is a remote role that will be set up as an independent contractor engagement.

To ensure alignment and transparency, successful candidates will be expected to:

  • Disclose any existing ongoing roles or client work
  • Reflect this engagement on their LinkedIn profile (clearly marked as “Independent Contractor”)
