Job description

Description

The Payroll Specialist supports the payroll function for CSD and serves as the subject matter expert and primary representative for the payroll function. This position collaborates with other members of the Finance and People & Culture teams to ensure proper, efficient, and effective payroll processes for CSD’s global workforce. 


  • Accurately processes staff payroll according to established timelines, procedures, and best-in-class standards 
  • Collaborates with People & Culture team to ensure efficient and accurate onboarding and offboarding process integrations and that these processes are completed in a timely manner (on or before first day of employment; within one day of termination notification) 
  • Oversees payroll activities as administered by the Operations team 
  • Reviews CSD hourly employee (part-time; variable hour) time sheets for accuracy and to ensure timesheets align with expectations 
  • Serves as a direct resource for Contact Center staff regarding payroll and educates employees in payroll processes while reinforcing established procedures and best practices 
  • Enters and ensures the accuracy of all employee changes in the payroll system; oversees changes for Contact Center locations 
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for any staff questions regarding payroll and payroll-system access; serves as the secondary administrator of CSD’s payroll system and manages access levels and permissions 
  • Serves as the secondary point of contact and administrator of CSD’s time clock system and manages access levels and permissions 
  • Processes and ensures accuracy of all payroll garnishments and other specialized deductions 
  • Monitors, reviews, and audits employee timesheet approvals, and reports anomalies to appropriate administrators; ensures proper accruals and calculations in payroll system 
  • Ensures that deductions are properly established in payroll and benefits systems 
  • Prepares end-of-year W-2 forms to meet required deadlines 
  • Supports complex reporting for various payroll issues and provides reporting to administrators, as necessary 
  • Completes special projects, as directed, and provides regular reports regarding progress 
  • Other duties as assigned 
Requirements

To perform the essential functions of this position successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:


  • Strong project management skills, including analysis, planning, prioritization, and attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience working across various Finance and HR functions[TM1] [MM2]  and levels of employees and management
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state regulations regarding payroll
  • Ability to work within financial and payroll management systems and computer accounting programs
  • Advanced skill in math and payroll accounting and ability to clearly explain complex issues in accessible terms
  • Excellent time management and organization skills
  • Ability to demonstrate the values of the organization and champion CSD’s products, services, and support of the global community
  • Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office products, including advanced-level proficiency in MS Excel

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Human Resources, Communications, or related field from an accredited college or university; or equivalent professional experience
  • One year of professional experience in Finance, Human Resources, or a related function
  • Two years of Human Resources or Payroll experience (PREFERRED)
  • Certified Human Resources or Payroll Professional (PHR/SHRM-CP or CPP) (PREFERRED)
  • Ability to communicate effectively using American Sign Language
Salary Description
$48,500 - $57,200/year
