As PAYROLL MANAGER you will be responsible for leading a team of diverse, multi-lingual Payroll Management professionals accountable for timely and accurate support of the Alcon Payroll and Time management function all aspects of the employee pay cycle as well as provide leadership in ensuring the right culture and work environment for the employees working across Payroll, Time Management & Service Center .

In this role, a typical day will include :

  • People Management:

Lead, motivate, coach, manage priorities, train and retain a team of skilled resources supporting various countries across a region; administer and manage leaves and absences; resource planning (short-term) / anticipation; ​encourage team collaboration; upskill or cross-skill the team on all tasks / build talent / build Subject Matter Expertise; Polish labor law knowledge; manage difficult conversations; upskill team to take lead representing HRHC to Stakeholders

  • Operations Management:

Drive accountability within the team to create and update process documentation, to meet on SLAs & KPI’s, on timely and accurate execution of controls (PY) , forecasts (PY), accuracy, FRA reporting (PY), ticket resolution

  • Stakeholder Management

Run periodic agenda driven meetings with stakeholders; share metrics; collect stakeholder feedback; communicate effectively on time it will take to resolve and open item and be sure to follow up/close the loop

  • Vendor Management

Run periodic agenda driven meetings with key vendors to track performance and ensure business requirement are met; manage vendor KPI’s- SR responsiveness / payroll accuracy (PY)/year end deliverables; reduce cost on elements outside regular payroll where possible, e.g.ad-hoc payment (PY)

  • Continuous Improvement

Define problems, present options and proactively propose solutions that may help to prevent problems in the future; identify and manage process improvements, system enhancements needed to support the successful design, development and implementation of HR plans, programs, processes, and new tools to drive greater effectiveness and efficiencies; spread CI approach in the team and leverage their expert knowledge (become the first line to vet the ideas and support implementing them)

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON :

  • About 5 years of prior experience in payroll in a multinational environment.
  • Fluent English is a must; an additional European language would be considered a strong advantage.
  • Proven track record of driving team accountability and delivering against agreed KPIs.
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders across EMEA markets.
  • Continuous Improvement mindset, preferably supported by Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt or Green Belt certification.
  • Strong experience with ADP, Workday, ServiceNow, or similar platforms.
  • Strong process management and process improvement background, with the ability to identify, standardize, optimize, and streamline end-to-end payroll and HR processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive operational excellence, process governance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
