Job description

About the Role

A fast-growing seed-stage biotechnology company in the nutraceuticals and food ingredients space is looking for a Technical Sales / Business Development Manager – Ingredients to drive its commercial growth phase. Following a highly successful trade show debut, this is a pivotal role that bridges the gap between an innovative R&D lab team and purchasing decision-makers at leading supplement brands and contract manufacturers.

The company develops a proprietary drug-delivery technology that dramatically improves the bioavailability, water solubility, and sensory profile of plant-based active ingredients — enabling brands to formulate more effective, natural products across nutraceuticals, food, pharma, and personal care. If you bring deep technical understanding, a passion for science-backed ingredients, and genuine sales drive, this is your opportunity to build long-term partnerships from a strong pipeline of warm leads.

What You'll Do

  • Actively develop and manage a B2B sales pipeline — including lead nurturing, opportunity management, and deal closure — targeting supplement brands and contract manufacturers.

  • Serve as the key commercial interface between the internal lab/R&D team and external buyers, translating complex scientific concepts into compelling commercial value propositions.

  • Present and pitch technically sophisticated ingredient solutions in a clear, accessible way to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Build and maintain long-term key account relationships, acting as a trusted partner throughout the customer journey.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with the science team to align customer requirements with product capabilities.

  • Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and customer meetings.

  • Contribute to commercial strategy and business development efforts as the company scales.

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Degree in a natural science or technical discipline — e.g. Food Technology, Nutritional Science, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Chemistry, or Business with a Life Sciences focus — or equivalent qualification.

  • 2–4 years of B2B sales, key account management, or business development experience in the ingredients, supplement, or pharmaceutical industry.

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across lab teams and procurement functions.

  • Demonstrated ability to translate technical/scientific products into clear commercial benefits.

  • Experience building and managing structured sales pipelines.

  • Fluent German (required for customer-facing work) and good English for international stakeholder communication.

Nice to Have:

  • Existing network within the supplement, nutraceutical, or specialty ingredients industry (e.g. experience at companies such as PLT Health Solutions, Sabinsa, Gencor, Indena, Natreon, AIDP, Lipofoods, Arjuna Natural, or similar).

  • Familiarity with bioavailability enhancement technologies or formulation science.

  • Experience working in an early-stage or scale-up environment.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: €60,000 – €80,000 per year, depending on experience.

  • Opportunity to join at a pivotal commercial growth stage with significant ownership and impact.

  • Work with a small, expert team at the intersection of biotechnology, nutrition science, and product innovation.

Location

  • On-site in Regensburg, Germany.

  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
