Health IT Training Specialist I

Aptive is seeking a Health IT Training Specialist to support the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Health Service Corps (IHSC) Health Information Technology Unit (HITU) in preparing users for effective adoption of a modernized electronic health record (EHR) and related Health IT systems. IHSC delivers direct and coordinated healthcare to a detained population of approximately 34,000 individuals per day across a nationwide network of facilities, and this role helps ensure the clinical and operational workforce is ready to use the systems that support that care.

This position prepares users for effective system adoption through role-based training, go-live support, and continuous learning initiatives. The specialist ensures consistent, high-quality training aligned with system releases, clinical workflows, and operational requirements across all IHSC facilities, and coordinates closely with clinical, operational, and technical teams to keep training accurate and current.

The ideal candidate has experience delivering EHR or healthcare IT training, strong instructional design skills, and the ability to translate complex technical system changes into clear, user-friendly learning resources for a geographically distributed federal healthcare workforce. All work is performed in support of Government staff and within authorized Government-managed environments.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Translate approved IT and EHR system changes into training impacts and learning requirements.
  • Develop, update, and maintain IT-specific training materials, job aids, and learning resources aligned to clinical and operational workflows.
  • Coordinate training schedules with system releases, enhancements, and go-live activities.
  • Deliver instructor-led and virtual training sessions for end users and super-users.
  • Support training readiness assessments and track adoption metrics to improve user readiness and system utilization.
  • Assist with go-live support and post-implementation optimization training.
  • Collaborate with clinical, operational, and technical teams to ensure training accuracy and consistency.
  • Maintain training documentation and learning management artifacts in accordance with Government records management and security requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience delivering IT or healthcare system training, preferably in an EHR environment.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design, and role-based training approaches.
  • Certification in instructional design or a related field is required.
  • Ability to translate technical system changes into clear, user-friendly training content.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to support large-scale implementations across diverse user populations.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DHS/ICE fitness determination (public trust) and execute a DHS Non-Disclosure Agreement.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting DHS, ICE, IHSC, or other federal healthcare IT or EHR modernization programs.
  • Experience supporting EHR go-live and post-implementation optimization across multiple facilities.
  • Familiarity with clinical and operational healthcare workflows and federal environments.
  • Experience with learning management systems, virtual training delivery, and training/adoption metrics.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Power BI, Microsoft Teams, or similar collaboration and reporting tools.
  • Strong written communication, facilitation, stakeholder engagement, and customer service skills.
