Position Overview

Network Engineer role provides first-line monitoring, ticket triage, troubleshooting support, and assistance with approved change implementation activities for enterprise network infrastructure, helping ensure reliable connectivity, timely incident response, accurate escalation, and successful execution of routine network changes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor network infrastructure including Cisco routers, switches, Riverbeds, F5 LTM load balancers, circuits, and network services, with active analysis of network behavior and anomalies
  • Respond to alerts, tickets, and user-reported connectivity issues with the goal of fully investigating and identifying the root cause
  • Perform structured troubleshooting using tools such as show and debugs commands, ping, traceroute, logs, and monitoring platforms to diagnose and isolate root cause across switching and routing domains (including VLANs, HSRP, EIGRP, and BGP)
  • Analyze device status, interface health, latency, packet loss, routing behavior, and circuit availability to determine underlying issue
  • Assist with approved change implementation activities, including pre-checks, post-checks, validation, and documentation based on identified issues and troubleshooting outcome
  • Follow standard operating procedures and runbooks for common incidents and service requests
  • Escalate issues to Level 2/3 teams only after root cause analysis is completed or when configuration changes or advanced engineering intervention are required; provide detailed findings and troubleshooting steps including switching and routing analysis
  • Maintain detailed ticket updates including troubleshooting steps, analysis performed, and identified root cause or finding
  • Handle port activation, connectivity validation requests and ensuring full verification and issue resolution where applicable

Required Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of networking including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, EIGRP, BGP, HSRP, NAT, ACL, switching protocols, F5 LTM load balancing, Riverbed WAN optimization with ability to apply this knowledge in real troubleshooting scenario
  • Strong hands-on experience with troubleshooting commands and network monitoring tools, including ability to analyze outputs and identify issues across switching and routing protocols
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting network incidents with expectation to investigate issues end-to-end and determine root cause before escalation to L2/L3 engineer
  • Ability to follow documented procedures while also applying analytical thinking beyond runbooks, and accurately document troubleshooting steps, findings, and root cause
  • Strong communication skills with ability to clearly articulate technical findings, reasoning, and root cause, along with high attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • CCNA or equivalent networking certification
  • Exposure to enterprise NOC, service desk, or infrastructure support environments
  • Basic familiarity with ITIL practices and change management processes

Experience

3 years or more of IT, network support, service desk, or network operations experience
Experience working with ticketing systems, monitoring platforms, and documented operational procedures
