Job description

Precision for Medicine is a precision medicine CRO. Our uniquely integrated offering enables the science of precision medicine by combining novel clinical trial designs, industry-leading operational and medical authorities, advanced biomarker and data analytics solutions, and an unequivocal real passion for rare diseases and oncology. Precision for Medicine develops assays and run global logistics using biomarkers to stratify patients, incomparably improving client's R&D efficiency and success. We handle every aspect of clinical trials from sites to biomarkers to diagnostics.

Precision for Medicine is hiring a Processing Technician I to join our team in Berlin. 

The Processing Technician is responsible for receiving, inventory and processing fresh patient samples. They will be performing PMBC or cell subset isolations, plasma fractionations, serum separations, cell thawing, cell counting and generating whole blood aliquots. Additionally, this role will be responsible for receiving, inventory and accessioning of fresh biological samples into data management system. 

Your Tasks and Responsibilities: 

  • Receive inventory and process fresh biological samples: 
  • Receive and inventory all incoming fresh biological samples into electronic data management system, BSI database. 
  • Perform cell isolations and/or separate whole blood and body fluids into various components and using LIMS database to report, track, and record samples 
  • Perform cryopreservation of all isolated cells 
  • Prepare all reagents used in lab 
  • Create and perform first key of data collection sheets 
  • Perform equipment preventive maintenance and laboratory organization 
  • Perform cell thawing and cell count measurements 
  • Participate in a rotating Saturday shift schedule to support weekend sample processing activities, ensuring timely receipt, accessioning and processing. A compensatory day off will be granted.
  • Order and inspect lab supplies 
  • Respond to freezer alarms in accordance with standard operating procedure 
  • Carry out other duties/projects as assigned 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Associate’s degree (Biology, Chemistry or Life Sciences) or equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • Basic laboratory skills, experience in pipetting and be trained in aseptic technique 
  • At least 6-month laboratory experience, tasks including pipetting, performing procedures under GLP (good laboratory practices) 
  • Good computer skills, confident handling of MS Office (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint) 
  • Good attention to detail, excellent documentation skills and must work well in a group environment 
  • Must be able to read, write, speak fluently, and comprehend the English and ideally German language
