Job description

About the Role

We’re looking for a Staff Fullstack Engineer to shape how we build across the entire product. This is a technical leadership role with engineering-wide scope — you’ll define architecture, lead cross-team technical alignment, and make decisions that determine how Clutch scales. You make engineers around you irreversibly better.

What You’ll Do

Within 3 months, you will:

  • Map the key architectural decisions that shaped our current system and form a clear view of where complexity lives and where investment will have the most leverage

  • Ship your first production contribution and establish yourself as a technical voice across the team

  • Identify at least one cross-team technical problem worth surfacing and propose a path forward

  • Establish yourself as a product-minded technical leader by building context on our users, product strategy, and business goals, and by contributing early to decisions that shape what we build and why

  • You will collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, sales and marketing, and supply chain teams to ensure successful product launches.

Within 6 months, you will:

  • Lead your first technical forum or architectural discussion, driving alignment across teams

  • Propose and begin executing a concrete plan to reduce complexity in a specific area

  • Build strong working relationships with cross-functional technical partners

Within 9 months, you will:

  • Have driven at least one architectural decision that is now influencing how the team builds

  • Have measurably simplified something — a system, a process, a pattern — that was creating friction

  • Operate as the go-to technical thought leader for ambiguous, cross-cutting engineering decisions

What You’ll Bring

  • 10+ years of software engineering, with deep expertise in TypeScript across the full stack (Node.js + React or equivalent)

  • Track record of shipping major backend infrastructure, complex libraries, or large-scale frontend systems

  • Ability to design and clearly articulate the architecture, tradeoffs, and scaling limits of complex systems — to both engineers and non-engineers

  • Experience leading cross-functional technical alignment: you’ve moved whole systems forward, not just written great code

  • Proven ability to reduce complexity at scale — simplifying what others have made complicated

  • Uses AI tooling strategically to accelerate design, review, and delivery decisions

Please note that this role may evolve as our business needs change, so we appreciate your flexibility and adaptability.

What’s In It For You?

  • Remote Flexibility: Enjoy the freedom of remote work from anywhere, balancing life and career seamlessly.

  • Unforgettable Off-Sites: Twice a year, bond with colleagues in exciting destinations, fostering teamwork and fresh ideas.

  • Paid Time Off and National Holidays: Enjoy 20 PTO days yearly and the National Holidays for relaxation and rejuvenation.

  • Stock Options: Joining us means having a stake in our success, so you'll receive stock options as part of your compensation package.

  • Home Office Setup: Create your ideal workspace with a dedicated budget for home office essentials.

  • Work Trip Budget: Grow personally and professionally with a budget for work-related trips and co-working.

A Note About AI at Clutch
We love AI. We use it often and encourage our team to creatively and effectively leverage AI tools in their work. If you join Clutch, we hope you'll bring the same enthusiasm for exploring how AI can amplify impact, productivity, and innovation.

That said, during the interview process, we want to hear your thoughts. Please approach interviews without the use of AI tools—our goal is to get to know how you think, solve problems, and communicate. Once you're in the seat, bring on the prompts!
