Job description

Overview:

United Community is seeking a Manager of Analytics & Data Products to own the analytics capability that leadership across the bank relies on to make decisions. You will lead the team responsible for turning our data platform into decision-ready products used every day, from the front line to the C-suite. This is both a leadership and a hands-on role: you will manage and mentor a team of analysts and developers while staying close enough to the work to set technical direction, review builds, and unblock complex problems.

Sitting within Enterprise Data, you will own our analytics and business intelligence layer end to end, from data models and semantic definitions through dashboards, self-service enablement, and embedded analytics. You will partner closely with business stakeholders to understand the problems behind their requests and deliver products that answer them. You will do this within the bank's data governance and security framework, partnering with our governance and data quality functions so that the analytics leadership relies on is accurate, consistent, and trustworthy

What You’ll Do:
  • Lead a team of analysts and developers, providing coaching, guidance, performance management, and career development.
  • Set technical direction for the analytics and BI layer, staying hands-on with development on highly visible, high-impact solutions.
  • Oversee the design and delivery of data models, dashboards, and analytics products that provide actionable, trustworthy insight to business stakeholders.
  • Own the semantic/metrics layer so that key business definitions are consistent, governed, and reusable across the organization.
  • Advance self-service analytics, enabling business partners to answer their own questions within a governed framework.
  • Deliver embedded analytics into the tools and applications where stakeholders already work.
  • Partner with the Director of Enterprise Data and Analytics to prioritize the roadmap, report status, and communicate tradeoffs.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for third-party vendors, managing those relationships and holding partners accountable to delivery and quality expectations.
  • Facilitate discovery conversations with business partners that get past the initial request to the underlying business problem.
  • Ensure data products adhere to enterprise data governance and security standards, partnering with the governance and data quality functions.
  • Maintain documentation for processes, data products, and best practices.
  • Identify and define process-improvement and modernization opportunities across the analytics stack.
Requirements For Success:
  • Bachelor's degree or above in a related field; master's preferred.
  • 7-10 years in business intelligence, analytics, data products, or a related field, including experience leading or mentoring others.
  • Required Skills:
    • Hands-on proficiency with enterprise BI and analytics platforms and SQL-based data sources. We work across a range of tools including Alteryx, Cognos, Tableau, Sigma, and Snowflake; deep experience with any of these, and the ability to work fluently across a mixed environment, is what matters most.
    • Strong SQL and a working understanding of dimensional modeling and semantic/metrics-layer design.
    • Experience working with large datasets and modern data warehousing concepts.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.
    • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at every level of the enterprise, from analysts to the C-suite.
    • Ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and translate ambiguous business needs into well-scoped analytics work.
  • Preferred Skills:
    • Experience delivering embedded analytics into third-party applications or portals.
    • Background in banking, financial services, or another regulated industry.
    • Experience managing third-party analytics vendor relationships.
    • Experience migrating or modernizing a legacy BI environment.
Conditions of Employment:
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background & credit check
  • This is a full-time, non-remote position that requires schedule flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
