Position: Load Planning Specialist

Primary Location: Remote-Based Work from West Coast USA State (Pacific Time Zone)

Reports To: Load Planning Manager

 

Compensation: $65,000-$80,000 + bonus + benefits.

 

The range shown reflects the targeted pay scale. Actual pay within the range depends on work location and factors such as skills, experience, and education. The Load Planning Specialist has a key role in the Logistics Operations team supporting plant sites in the Water Chemicals Business. This role is responsible for the movement of finished goods from the operating plant to the customer and includes movement of purchased finished goods, raw materials and equipment. The Load Planning Specialist will support the Chemtrade Logistics team, implementing data-based metrics to drive performance of the private fleet and common carriers. The Load Planning Specialist will work with plants, customer service, supply chain and Logistics to ensure the highest measure of customer satisfaction and continually drive improvement of the customer experience. The Load Planning Specialist will collaborate with Supply Chain to ensure safe delivery of goods to our customers.

Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Transportation, Business or equivalent related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with good working knowledge of chemical delivery, dispatching and logistics
  • Experience with safety programs in an industrial facility preferred
  • Experience with a TMS (Transportation Management System) preferred
  • Technical knowledge of DOT/Federal Motor Carrier rules and regulations

Responsibilities

 

Plant Operations and Training                                                                         65%

 

  • Dispatch regional private fleet drivers and balance loads at the site level
  • Dispatch common carrier deliveries and balance loads at the site level
  • Optimize loads between private fleet and common carrier at all responsible plants
  • Develop and maintain relationships with common carriers at the plant/dispatch level
  • Support Road Logistics Managers in monitoring and improving common carrier performance
  • Work with plant managers to ensure production capacity can meet load requirements – plan accordingly
  • Work with customer service to ensure orders are spaced as evenly as possible throughout the week to minimize rescheduling due to carrier capacity limitations
  • Support the Regional Driver Managers by identifying and communicating on driver performance, opportunities for growth and improvement within the fleet, aid with incident/NCR investigations where applicable and other duties as needed
  • Analyze data to increase driver utilization and optimize performance of the private fleet, track seasonal trends in deliveries to aid in planning for seasonality requirements
  • Work evenings or weekends to secure transportation capacity during plant shutdowns, plant upsets and abnormal resource issues as situations require
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers at a plant/dispatch level by communicating delivery issues and working with customers to ensure delivery expectations are met
  • Prepare paperwork for shipments daily
  • Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external partners
  • Participate in planning for outages/emergencies
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Environment, Health & Safety                                                                          20%

 

  • Participate in incident investigation and closure of action items as required
  • Respond to EHS incidents through prompt and thorough reporting, incident investigation, root cause identification and action item implementation
  • Assist in tracking and communication of EHS performance metrics
  • Provide leadership, guidance and mentoring to the driving operations personnel to develop a culture committed to safety, environmental awareness and continuous improvement, consistent with the ethic of Responsible Care
  • Support and develop strategies to effectively implement company and plant goals and objectives (i.e., Responsible Care, RC-14001, operations improvement initiatives)
  • Maintain a working knowledge of company policies, plant procedures, environmental regulatory and permit requirements and other applicable regulations and standards
  • Keep assigned safety procedures, training and education materials up to date

 

Cost Control and Reporting                                                                               15%

 

  • Prepare assigned management reports
  • Accountable for cost control of proper execution of daily work and fleet activities as assigned
  • Responsible for scheduling, pre-outage hazard preparation, measurement metrics, critiques, etc.

Physical Demands

  • Employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Employee is occasionally required to climb stairs/ladders (including vertical)
  • Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
