Role Synopsis

This role reports to the Principal Category Manager for Production and provides analytical, tactical, and execution support to the PSCM Production Category Team. The role helps deliver category strategies, execute supplier and contract management activities, strengthen compliance, and support value delivery across designated Production and Intervention categories.  This role will also be responsible for all strategic sourcing activities within their defined categories. 

  • Build effective working relationships with Production stakeholders/regional teams, PSCM category teams, and local suppliers. 

  • Support supplier relationship management, contract compliance, sourcing execution, and category plan delivery in alignment with bp and bpx standards. 

  • Contribute to safe, efficient, and compliant supply chain activity by improving execution discipline, reducing operational risk, and supporting lease operating expense value delivery. 

Category scope may include: 

  • Production chemicals, workover rigs, well intervention services, fluid hauling, rotating equipment, roustabout/contract labor, artificial lift solutions, automation and measurement, and other Production/Operations categories as assigned. 

Role available in Denver, CO or Houston, TX. Role may require travel up to 25% to support field operations, supplier engagements, stakeholder meetings, and other business needs. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Support Production teams in delivering PSCM category management support, executing category plans, and managing relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and other external parties as required. 

  • Execute category management and contracting activities for delegated categories, including sourcing support, contract implementation, supplier onboarding, and short- and long-term agreement support. 

  • Ensure bpx and PSCM standards, processes, systems, and local requirements are applied consistently across assigned procurement and supply chain activities. 

  • Identify PSCM risks, support mitigation plans, and apply appropriate cost management, contract management, and compliance controls during contract execution. 

  • Build and maintain supplier relationships that support safe operations, continuous improvement, reliable service delivery, and reduced operational risk. 

  • Coordinate performance reviews with stakeholders and suppliers, monitor supplier performance, support corrective action plans, and escalate service delivery issues or disputes when required. 

  • Execute PSCM common processes, promote efficient and compliant procurement transactions, and support continuous improvement across the value chain. 

  • Work closely with PSCM Category and Operations teams to support business continuity, resolve execution issues, and maintain alignment with operational priorities. 

  • Partner with business stakeholders and suppliers to deliver value contributions with a direct impact on lease operating expenses, supplier performance, and operational reliability. 

  • Use of data and analytics to drive insights into Category Strategies, vendor negotiations, and other operational aspects of the business. 

  • Continuous improve and offer suggestions to improve upon ways of working. 

 Essential Education

  • University degree in Procurement/Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, a technical discipline, or equivalent experience. 
  • Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. 

 

Essential Experience and Job Requirements

  • 7+ years of relevant sourcing, category management, supply chain, or operations support experience; experience supporting production/operations is preferred. 

  • Strong analytical, commercial, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence internal stakeholders and engage suppliers effectively. 

  • Demonstrated project management capability, including the ability to coordinate multiple priorities, track actions, and drive timely execution. 

  • Working knowledge of systems such as Open Invoice, Ariba, Ironclad and SAP, and analytical tools such as Excel and Power BI. 

  • Interest in applying digital tools and AI-enabled workflows, such as Copilot, Claude or similar tools, to improve efficiency, insight generation, and execution discipline. 

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across disciplines, cultures, geographies, organizational levels, and supplier organizations. 

  • Preferred experience interpreting market, microeconomic, and macroeconomic factors that affect oilfield services, production operations, and supply chain categories. 

 

Eligibility Requirements

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience with Production/Operations, or oilfield services categories. 

  • Experience with chemical sourcing, bidding, or management. 

  • Familiarity with supplier performance management, contract compliance, sourcing events, and cost management practices. 

  • Experience using data, dashboards, and market intelligence to support category decisions and stakeholder recommendations.
