How you can help shape the future

The Head of Germany Tax is responsible for leading and overseeing all tax matters relating to Castrol's operations across Continental Europe (excluding the United Kingdom), the Middle East, Türkiye and Africa, with a particular focus on Germany. The role acts as the senior tax leader for the region, the principal holder of relationships with fiscal authorities and senior business leaders, and is accountable for ensuring effective tax governance, compliance and risk management across the organisation.

The Head of Germany Tax will have primary accountability for managing all tax audits, enquiries, investigations and disputes, whilst ensuring that tax compliance, governance, risk management and advisory support are delivered effectively through a combination of internal teams, and external advisers – both for compliance and advisory.

The Head of Germany Tax will be a member of the Castrol Head of Tax Leadership Team and will actively contribute to the development and delivery of Castrol's tax strategy, governance framework, risk management approach and leadership agenda.

Your new area of responsibility - challenging and future-oriented

Reporting to the Castrol Head of Tax, the Head of Germany Tax will be a key contributor to the delivery of Castrol's tax strategy and objectives, providing tax expertise across all aspects of the business and actively contributing to the Castrol Tax Leadership Team.

• Serve as the trusted tax advisor to Castrol’s leadership teams across Germany, Continental Europe, the Middle East, Türkiye and Africa, providing pragmatic and commercially focused guidance on strategic business initiatives, restructurings and growth opportunities.
• Lead all tax governance, compliance and risk management activities, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and the highest standards of integrity across multiple jurisdictions.
• Act as Castrol’s primary representative with tax authorities, leading audits, investigations, enquiries and dispute resolution while maintaining strong external stakeholder relationships.
• Oversee the delivery of tax operations, compliance processes and reporting through internal teams, external advisers and outsourced service providers, ensuring efficiency, accuracy and robust controls.
• Monitor legislative developments and emerging tax risks, translating complex tax matters into clear business recommendations and informed decision-making.
• Drive continuous improvement of tax governance frameworks, compliance processes and internal controls to support a changing business environment.
• Collaborate closely with Finance, Legal and business stakeholders to balance commercial objectives, tax efficiency and risk management.
• Lead, coach and develop a high-performing regional tax team, fostering a culture of accountability, technical excellence, inclusion and continuous development.
• Contribute as a member of the Castrol Tax Leadership Team, helping shape and deliver the company’s global tax strategy, governance framework and leadership agenda.

Your qualification profile - profound and passionate

• Degree in Tax, Accounting, Law or a related field, combined with a professional tax qualification.
• Extensive experience in tax advisory, compliance, governance and risk management within multinational organisations.
• Strong expertise in German tax law, including Corporate Income Tax, VAT, Excise Duties, Employment Taxes and Transfer Pricing.
• Proven experience managing tax audits, investigations, disputes and relationships with tax authorities.
• Sound commercial judgement with the ability to provide practical, business-focused tax advice.
• Strong knowledge of international tax compliance, governance frameworks and internal controls.
• Experience leading complex tax operations, external advisers and cross-functional stakeholder environments.
• Demonstrated leadership capability, with experience developing teams and influencing senior stakeholders.
• Fluent in German and English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in consumer goods, manufacturing, energy or other multinational industries.
• Exposure to mergers, acquisitions, carve-outs or transformation programmes.
• Experience leading regional or international tax teams.
• Knowledge of OECD developments, Pillar Two and international taxation.
• Familiarity with tax environments across Europe, the Middle East, Türkiye and Africa.
