Job description

About the role:

For this position good knowledge of the Dutch language is a prerequisite.

You will be part of our Civil Engineering department – the foundation of Jan De Nul Group and still one of its most vital divisions. We specialise in complex, large-scale construction projects and deliver fully customised solutions for both private and public clients. At Jan De Nul Group, safety and quality are at the core of everything we do. Our technical expertise and decades of experience place us among the global industry leaders.

From the world’s largest lock in Antwerp, to an innovative quay wall in Panama, the sustainable and architecturally refined Résidence Palace in Brussels, and the fully integrated A11 motorway — these are all projects proudly delivered by Jan De Nul Group!

What you’ll do:

As a Civil Engineering Project Engineer, you are responsible for the technical, administrative, and organisational preparation of our domestic construction projects.

  • You will manage both financial and administrative aspects of the project. This includes handling tender documentation, processing invoices, monitoring budgets, preparing progress reports, and coordinating as-built plans.
  • At the same time, you oversee the planning and organization of the works. Your responsibilities include site layout, developing detailed execution methods, and creating time schedules — while carefully managing interfaces between different projects.
  • In your role as work planner, you serve as the link between the external stakeholders and the internal project team. You liaise with contractors, suppliers, and other partners, reviewing technical drawings and contract documents to ensure alignment with the engineering office.
  • All activities are carried out in accordance with safety regulations and in close coordination with the site manager and project leader.
  • You report directly to the project leader.

What do you need?

You hold a degree in Industrial Engineering (Construction) or a Bachelor's in Architecture. You possess strong technical insight and have excellent reporting skills. You are communicative, proactive, and detail-oriented.
You will be working on our construction sites across Belgium.

Why working for us:
Working at Jan De Nul means helping to find solutions to some of the biggest challenges of our time: from energy transition to rising sea levels to smart mobility. It means learning and working together every day, with the aim of ensuring the global quality of life for generations to come.

What we offer

  • Through the JDN-Academy, we offer you a permanent training trajectory.
  • Our FIT-programme allows us to monitor your well-being. The programme is centred around exercise, food and a healthy work-life balance.
  • A healthy work-life balance (flexible working hours and occasional work from home).
  • A permanent contract with 42 paid holidays (20 statutory, 12 ADV and 10 public holidays).
  • An attractive salary with thirteenth month and double holiday pay including:
    • Meal vouchers and eco vouchers.
    • Company car including fuel card/charge pass within Belgium.
    • Group and hospitalisation insurance.
    • Option to iPhone with phone-data abonnement
    • Various staff discounts.
  • You will be part of an international growing family business.
