Staff Product Manager

About the Role

At bp, we're looking for a Staff Product Manager to help shape the future of products and platforms that support software engineers and developers.

This role is an excellent opportunity for someone with a software engineering background who enjoys solving sophisticated problems, collaborating with complementary teams, and creating products that improve the developer experience.

You will work with engineers, designers, and business partners to define priorities, deliver impactful solutions, and continuously improve the tools, platforms, and services that developers rely on every day.

What You'll Do

Product Strategy and Planning

  • Help understands the vision, strategy, and roadmap for developer-focused products and platforms.
  • Use feedback, data, and research to understand developer needs and find opportunities for improvement.
  • Prioritize work based on customer value, business outcomes, and technical considerations.
  • Balance immediate needs with long-term product sustainability and growth.
  • Supervise product performance and use insights to guide future improvements.

Build Excellent Developer Experiences

  • Create products and capabilities that help developers work more efficiently.
  • Define requirements for APIs, developer tools, workflows, and platform services.
  • Support the delivery of intuitive, reliable, and scalable solutions.
  • Improve developer onboarding, adoption, and overall experience.
  • Encourage consistency and simplicity across products and platforms.

Collaborate Across Teams

  • Partner with engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Work closely with architecture, DevOps, site reliability, developer experience, and design teams.
  • Facilitate productive discussions and align teams around shared goals.
  • Translate user needs into clear product requirements and outcomes.
  • Develop an inclusive and collaborative approach to problem-solving.

Deliver Value

  • Convert product strategy into user stories, requirements, and acceptance criteria.
  • Participate in planning activities and support delivery teams throughout development.
  • Use customer feedback, usage data, and operational metrics to decisions.
  • Help ensure solutions are delivered with quality, reliability, and usability in mind.
  • Continuously look for opportunities to improve processes and outcomes.

Advocate for Developers

  • Represent the needs and perspectives of developers in product decisions.
  • Help improve documentation, onboarding experiences, and self-service capabilities.
  • Gain feedback and use it to enhance products and services. Measure success through adoption, engagement, satisfaction, and business impact.

Contribute to Technical Decisions

  • Participate in discussions related to system design, scalability, performance, reliability, and security.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to evaluate options and make informed decisions.
  • Develop a confirmed understanding of platform capabilities and technical constraints. Support solutions that are sustainable, secure, and aligned with user needs.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in software engineering, product management, or a combination of both.
  • Understanding of software development practices and modern technology environments.
  • Familiarity with APIs, cloud technologies, CI/CD processes, and distributed systems.
  • Experience working collaboratively with engineering and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to balance user needs, technical considerations, and business priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a Product Manager, Technical Product Owner, Engineering Lead, or similar role.
  • Experience supporting developer platforms, APIs, integrations, SDKs, or internal tools.
  • Familiarity with developer experience (DX) principles and procedures.
  • Experience working in Agile environments. Interest in improving developer productivity and platform adoption.
