Looking for Philippines-based candidates

Job Role: Accountant/Accounting Assistant

Work Schedule: 9 AM - 5 PM AU business hours, Monday to Friday

Compensation range: $1,000 AUD - $1,200 AUD / Monthly

Who We Are: At Hunt St, we help Australian companies hire top remote talent in the Philippines. For this role, you will be formally employed through an Employer of Record (EOR) arrangement. We are not an outsourcing agency. All of our roles are 100% remote, so you’ll be able to work from home.

Who The Client Is: A long-standing Chartered Accounting firm that supports both individuals and businesses with accounting, tax compliance, BAS compliance and business advisory. With decades of experience, they focus on building trusted relationships and offering personalised strategies to help clients manage finances, grow wealth, and plan for the future.

Role Overview: The Accountant/Accounting Assistant will support a multi-office accounting team by taking ownership of Business and SMSF Financials & Tax Package preparation offshore to help reduce workflow bottlenecks and minimize interruptions to onshore accountants. This role ensures that compliance documents are processed efficiently, accurately, and delivered ready for review, allowing senior team members to focus on advisory and client-facing work. In addition to package preparation, this role will manage supporting compliance tasks such as utilizing ATO Mate to send out Tax Office Correspondence, ASIC Annual reviews using NowInfinity, and client reminders. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically capable, and committed to long-term consistency in a remote setup.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and process Business and SMSF Financials & Tax packages, ensuring accuracy and timely completion for onshore review.
  • Use tools like Adobe Acrobat Pro (merge, split, tag, sign), Microsoft 365, Xero, Xero Practice Manager and NowInfinity to finalize documents and maintain file standards.
  • Use ATO Mate to send out Tax office correspondence to clients daily, monitor client communications, and escalate issues when required.
  • Manage ASIC annual reviews in NowInfinity, including invoicing, sending documents for signing, scheduling and sending payment reminders, and call-based escalations where needed.
  • Maintain clear records of client correspondence, document status, and workflow progress in internal systems.
  • Collaborate with accountants across multiple offices to ensure seamless handovers and reduce administrative burdens.
  • Contribute to smoother operations during capacity challenges and support long-term workflow stability.

Requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 1–3 years of experience in an accounting firm or similar professional services environment (admin or junior accounting role).
  • Familiarity with tax and SMSF documentation processes preferred or willingness to learn quickly.
  • Proficient in or able to quickly learn Adobe Acrobat Pro, Microsoft 365, Xero, NowInfinity, and ATO Mate.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to follow structured workflows.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Reliable work-from-home setup, including stable internet and consistent availability.
  • Fast learner with strong software adaptability and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Professional, proactive, and committed to long-term stability and retention rather than short-term employment.

Work Arrangement & Expectations:

This is a remote role that will be set up via an Employer of Record (EOR) service.

To ensure alignment and transparency, successful candidates will be expected to:

  • Disclose any existing ongoing roles or client work
  • Reflect this engagement on their LinkedIn profile
