The Executive, Clinical AI and Innovation serves as OCHIN’s executive leader responsible for advancing the future of care delivery through artificial intelligence, automation, emerging technologies, and innovation-enabled service models. This role identifies, evaluates, and scales innovative solutions that improve provider experience, patient outcomes, workforce sustainability, and financial performance across the OCHIN network. 


Working across clinical, operational, technology, product, research, and external stakeholder groups, the Executive leads OCHIN’s clinical innovation portfolio, establishes strategic innovation priorities, guides innovation investments, and drives adoption of emerging capabilities that create measurable value for members. 


In partnership with the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO), the Executive helps shape OCHIN’s future clinical technology and care delivery strategy. While the CMIO is responsible for clinical informatics, governance, and optimization of existing clinical systems, this role focuses on identifying future opportunities, evaluating emerging technologies and care models, and translating innovation into scalable solutions and services. The Executive serves as OCHIN’s thought leader for clinical innovation, ensuring the organization remains at the forefront of healthcare transformation while maintaining a relentless focus on member impact. 


JOB DUTIES 

 

Innovation Strategy and Future-State Care Design 

  • Develop and execute OCHIN’s clinical AI and innovation strategy. 
  • Identify emerging healthcare, workforce, payment, technology, and regulatory trends likely to impact member organizations. 
  • Evaluate future-state care delivery models and recommend strategic investments. 
  • Translate emerging opportunities into actionable innovation portfolios and business cases. 
  • Advise executive leadership on innovation priorities, risks, and opportunities. 
  • Sponsor a portfolio of innovation initiatives aligned with organizational goals 

AI and Emerging Technology Leadership 

  • Guide evaluation of emerging technologies including artificial intelligence, automation, ambient technologies, predictive analytics, digital therapeutics, and novel care delivery solutions. 
  • Establish frameworks for identifying, assessing, piloting, and scaling innovative technologies. 
  • Partner with internal technical, operational, and clinical leaders to determine where AI and emerging technologies can create meaningful value. 
  • Ensure innovation efforts align with organizational governance, safety, compliance, and ethical practices. 
  • Represent the voice of members in innovation investment decisions, ensuring solutions address real-world needs and deliver measurable value. 

Industry Leadership and External Influence 

  • Represent OCHIN at national conferences, advisory boards, industry collaboratives, and innovation forums. 
  • Establish OCHIN as a recognized leader in AI-enabled healthcare transformation and innovation. 
  • Monitor emerging trends and translate market intelligence into organizational strategy 
  • Build relationships with thought leaders influencing the future of healthcare delivery. 
  • Engage directly with prospective and existing members to understand clinical, operational, and workforce challenges and identify innovation opportunities. 
  • Participate in member site visits, executive meetings, innovation discovery sessions, and strategic planning discussions to gather insights and strengthen OCHIN’s understanding of emerging needs. 

Team Leadership & Culture 

  • Partner across the organization ot assess opportunities for innovation-enabled services and future capabilities. 
  • Mentor, develop, and grow talent in the organization 
  • Inform executive and internal teams of industry emerging trends, information 
  • Foster a culture of operational excellence, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement 
Requirements



Qualifications

  • MD, DO, PharmD, DNP, or other advance clinical degree required. 
  • Additional graduate education in informatics, healthcare administration, public health, business, innovation, or related field preferred. 
  • 15+ years of progressive health care leadership experience 
  • Demonstrated success leading large-scale healthcare transformation, innovation, digital health, clinical operations, or technology-enabled care delivery initiatives. 
  • Experience evaluating, implementing, and scaling emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, automation, analytics, digital health, or novel care delivery models. 
  • Experience influencing organizational strategy and executive decision-making in complex healthcare environments. 
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives that span clinical, operational, technical, and business functions. 
  • Experience building consensus and driving adoption across diverse stakeholder groups, including executives, clinicians, product leaders, operational leaders, and external partners. 
  • The ideal candidate is a clinically trained executive with a demonstrated track record of leading healthcare innovation and transformation. They possess deep credibility with clinicians and executives alike, while bringing the strategic vision necessary to identify emerging opportunities, evaluate new technologies, and translate innovation into measurable value. They are equally comfortable discussing care delivery redesign, artificial intelligence, healthcare economics, workforce sustainability, and organizational strategy, and have a proven ability to move organizations from experimentation to enterprise-wide adoption. 

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • Constant interpersonal skills, teamwork, and customer service. Frequent creativity, mentoring, presentations, and teaching. Occasional decision making and independent judgment or action.  
  • Reading, speaking, writing, and understanding English.  
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms.  
  • This position requires a virtual home-office environment, working remotely. 
  • The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and mobile devices. 
  • Travel is required to support OCHIN’s business requirements for go-live installations or training which may require travel by air, vehicle, or train. 

Work Location and Travel Requirements

OCHIN is a 100% remote organization with no physical corporate office location. Employees work remotely from home and many of our positions also support our member organizations on-site for new software installations. Nationwide travel is determined based on OCHIN business needs. Please inquire during the interview process about travel requirements for this position. 

Work from home requirements are: 

  • Ability to work independently and efficiently from a home office environment 
  • High Speed Internet Service 
  • It is a requirement that employees work in a distraction free workplace 
  • Travel required up to 20% nationally for on-site Go Live support based on business requirements for OCHIN 
  • (OR) Travel may be required nationally based on business requirements for OCHIN

Base Pay Overview

OCHIN uses broadened pay ranges to support equitable and market-aligned compensation practices. Pay information by position level is listed below. The final offer will be based on a variety of factors, including relevant skills, certifications, education, experience, training, responsibilities, internal equity, and market data.
