What You’ll Do:
The Manager, Contract Management & Strategic Procurement (Spain) is responsible for driving commercial optimization, procurement and contract strategy across Northland’s mature renewable portfolio in Spain, including onshore wind, solar, and CSP assets.
The role focuses on contract renewal, cost optimization, and long-term value creation, while ensuring that both new and existing contracts are actively managed throughout their lifecycle. You will act as a key commercial partner to operations, supporting asset performance across geographically dispersed sites.
In addition, you will act as the Spain focal point for procurement processes, systems, and governance, ensuring effective implementation of global standards while adapting them to local requirements.

The role will be required to work in the Madrid office 4 days per week with one flexible day to work from home under our hybrid working model

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Sourcing & Contract Renewals

  • Lead renewal, re-tendering, and renegotiation of long-term service agreements (LTSAs), particularly with OEMs, critical suppliers, and contracts with market agents, including energy and gas supply agreements
  • Support in asset enhancement initiatives for BESS projects.
  • Challenge suppliers on pricing, scope, and commercial structures
  • Leverage portfolio scale to achieve improved commercial outcomes
  • Structure contracts to ensure cost efficiency, flexibility, and long-term performance

Contract Lifecycle Management & Commercial Optimization

  • Own end-to-end contract lifecycle management across:
    • Newly negotiated contracts
    • Existing legacy agreements
  • Ensure contracts are actively managed post-award, including:
    • Performance monitoring against KPIs
    • Service level enforcement
    • Risk and compliance tracking
  • Lead contract administration activities including:
    • Variations and amendments
    • Claims and counterclaims
    • Resolution of commercial disputes
  • Maintain robust contract governance, documentation, and audit readiness

Portfolio Procurement Strategy

  • Develop procurement strategies tailored to aging assets, focusing on:
  • OPEX optimization
  • Reliability and life extension
  • Spare parts and obsolescence management
  • Drive demand consolidation and supplier standardization
  • Implement framework agreements to capture portfolio efficiencies
  • Ensure alignment across wind, solar, and CSP technologies

Supplier Performance & Cost Management

  • Establish and monitor supplier KPIs and performance frameworks
  • Address supplier performance gaps and drive corrective actions
  • Conduct market benchmarking and cost analysis
  • Deliver measurable cost savings and value improvements

Procurement Processes, Systems & Governance (Spain Lead Role)

  • Act as the Spain focal point for Procurement and Contract Management
  • Ensure implementation and adoption of global procurement processes and tools
  • Adapt global frameworks to local regulatory and operational requirements
  • Serve as key interface between Procurement, IT, and business stakeholders
  • Support system enhancements, digital initiatives, and tool rollouts
  • Ensure process compliance, data quality, and audit readiness

Stakeholder Engagement & Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Operations, Asset Management, Engineering, Legal, and Finance teams
  • Align procurement strategies with operational priorities and budget constraints
  • Support decision-making across geographically dispersed assets
  • Act as a trusted commercial advisor to internal stakeholders

Who You Are: You are a highly commercial and strategic procurement professional with a strong ability to operate in a mature asset environment, where value is created through optimization rather than greenfield development.

  • Strategic & Commercial Thinker: You understand cost drivers and can extract value from complex supplier relationships and long-term contracts
  • Experienced Negotiator: Extensive experience renegotiating OEM and service agreements to deliver enhanced commercial outcomes, complemented by expertise in energy supply contracts (incl. gas) and component sales contracts related to repowering initiatives.
  • Contract Lifecycle Expert: You actively manage contracts throughout their duration, not just at award stage
  • Analytical & Data-Driven: Able to build robust business cases, particularly for make vs buy decisions
  • Collaborative & Influential: You build strong relationships across functions and geographies
  • Systems & Process Oriented: Comfortable working with procurement systems and acting as a bridge between business and IT

Qualifications and Experience

· Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, Engineering, Supply Chain, Law, or related field

· 5-8+ years of experience in procurement, contract management, or commercial roles

· Strong experience in:

  • OEM contract negotiations (wind or solar preferred; BESS additional)
  • Project and/or O&M service contracting
  • Cost optimization and procurement strategy

· Strong understanding of:

  • Contract lifecycle management
  • Claims and variation management
  • Procurement governance frameworks

· Experience working in or with the Spanish energy market is preferred

Experience across wind, solar, or CSP technologies is highly advantageous

Other Requirements

  • Open to regular travel to key onshore wind/solar/CSP farm sites.
  • Professional proficiency in English and Spanish
