The Opportunity:

This position is an expert data engineer who excels in designing, developing, testing, maintaining, and supporting secure, scalable, and robust data solutions.  The incumbent will possess a deep understanding of technical issues, adept troubleshooting skills, and the ability to propose and implement enhancements. This role entails leading and collaborating on the development of data solutions.

The incumbent for this position will have a distinguished track record and experience, demonstrating expertise and mastery.  The incumbent will exhibit a broad perspective and ability to design, build, and lead delivery of effective data solutions, capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

Day in the Life:

  • Work in a fast-paced agile/scrum environment in which the role would:
    • Develop basic to highly advanced code and designs to maintain new and existing technology systems following company standards.
    • Accountable to develop and deliver technical documentation.
    • Undergo peer code and design reviews to ensure stable and high quality production-ready code.
  • Build and maintain data solutions that meet or exceed industry regulatory requirements.
  • Leading and authoring of technical specifications and detailed designs.
  • Foster and maintain high collaboration with team members, other technical colleagues, and business partners from across the organization.
  • Active involvement and engineering leadership in multiple complex projects.
  • Provide engineering leadership and mentorship to all level of engineering staff.
  • Review code for complex maintainability, coding standards and security issues.
  • Conceptualize, plan, design, and build software to solve complex problems.
  • Effectively collaborate with Architects to develop and review intended solutions.
  • Demonstrate expert-level knowledge of coding standards and apply them.
  • Engages in driving organization technical strategy and innovation efforts.
  • Demonstrates subject matter expertise in their domain and takes on higher-level responsibilities.
  • Ensure compliance with established SDLC frameworks, including requirements gathering, analysis, design, development, testing, release management, and deployment.
  • Ensure compliance with all the audit and security requirements of the company.
  • Lead a team with meeting project commitments, such as project goals, objectives, and corresponding delivery dates.
  • Ability to lead large-scale software projects from start to finish and engage in driving technical strategy and innovation efforts.
  • Participate and follow established Agile standards (including attending all Agile events) to create a collaborative and efficient development environment and meet project goals and delivery dates. 
  • Ability to travel as needed to perform position responsibilities.
  • Availability to be on-call as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, related technology field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Ten years professional work experience in data engineering required. 
  • Three years of experience performing as a subject matter expert. 
  • Prior experience with coding Python and PySpark in a Databricks platform
  • Experience with big data technologies like Snowflake and comfortable working in scalable environments.
  • Years of experience may be offset by having proficiency in one or more highly specialized technologies or skills. 
  • Expert-level proficiency of computer engineering fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Ability to modify existing code and write highly advanced scripts according to standards and best practices.
  • Experience with Azure cloud environments and concepts
  • Advanced understanding of data engineering concepts and highly proficient in SQL.
  • Expert technical skills and knowledge in: data warehousing, databases, ETL/ELT, business intelligence, and data governance.
  • Demonstrate excellent analytical and quantitative skills.

Pay Equity

$110,100.00 - $143,100.00

Actual Pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
