Job description

Who We Are & What We’re Building

At Goodwin, we build tech for companies that sell private charter flights. We work with charter brokers who manage client relationships, price trips, secure aircraft owned by operators, and keep complex itineraries moving under constant time pressure. Much of that work still depends on manual coordination across emails, spreadsheets, and phone calls, especially when matching client requests with the right aircraft.

Our tech gives brokers clearer visibility, faster workflows, and better control over their day-to-day work, so they can serve clients confidently as their businesses grow. In a detail-driven, high-responsibility industry where judgment matters and mistakes are costly, it helps reduce friction and brings clarity to complex charter workflows.

Founded in 2022 and headquartered in Columbus, Ohio with distributed talent across the US, Goodwin is on a fast-growth trajectory as we redefine private aviation technology from the ground up.

Why This Role Exists

Every flight booked through Goodwin generates financial activity that needs to be processed accurately, reconciled quickly, and monitored carefully.

As our Payment Operations Accountant, you'll help ensure the financial engine behind our platform runs smoothly. You'll own the day-to-day accounting operations that keep payments moving, books accurate, and financial controls strong while partnering closely with our Head of Finance and collaborating with international teammates who support our accounting operations.

What You’ll Work On

  • Process high volumes of accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Perform daily ledger reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Monitor payment systems for unusual activity, fraud risks, and compliance with internal controls.
  • Support treasury and payment operations across multiple banking and fintech platforms.
  • Collaborate with international accounting contractors to ensure timely and accurate financial processing.
  • Help improve accounting workflows and identify opportunities to make financial operations more scalable.
  • Maintain accurate financial records within QuickBooks, ERP systems, and Excel-based reporting.
  • Support month-end close activities and other operational accounting initiatives as the company grows.

How You’ll Know You’re Succeeding

  • The Head of Finance never has to wonder whether the day-to-day accounting operations are under control. She knows you've got them handled accurately and consistently.
  • Payments are processed on time, reconciliations stay current, and discrepancies are identified before they become bigger problems.
  • You can confidently manage a high volume of transactions without sacrificing accuracy or attention to detail.
  • You spot opportunities to improve processes and help make our accounting operations more scalable as Goodwin grows.
  • Our payment systems remain well-monitored, with strong controls that help prevent fraud and ensure compliance.
  • Your teammates know they can count on you to communicate clearly, solve problems, and keep financial operations moving.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in high-volume accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury, or payment operations.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Understanding of cost accounting principles.
  • Experience with fraud prevention, compliance, chargebacks, or payment risk management.
  • Experience working with banking platforms, treasury systems, payment processors, or fintech platforms.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software such as QuickBooks or ERP systems.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to improving processes.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with teammates across different countries and time zones.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Salary Range

  • This position has an anticipated annual base salary range of $50,000–$70,000. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location, where applicable.
