Your opportunity

At Mission Australia, every number tells a story, a story of impact, opportunity, and support for people across Australia. As a Finance Business Partner, you will play a meaningful role behind the scenes, helping ensure grant funded services are financially strong, sustainable, and able to continue changing lives. Working closely with a Senior Finance Business Partner, you will support the financial management of block-funded programs, contribute to reporting and forecasting, and collaborate with service leaders to translate financial insights into better outcomes for the communities we serve.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Support month end close activities, ensuring income and expense results are accurate for allocated service streams and functions.
  • Analyse financial variances and provide clear explanations linked to operational drivers.
  • Identify trends, risks, and one-off transactions, escalating insights to support decision making.
  • Prepare and summarise monthly and year to date performance against budgets and forecasts.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support KPI tracking and reporting.
  • Partner with Program Managers and stakeholders to review financial performance and discuss improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with acquittal reporting to ensure compliance with funding requirements.
  • Support the budget and forecasting process, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Update and maintain driver based financial models for planning cycles.
  • Contribute to tender submissions and business cases through financial modelling and analysis.

Requirements for success

  • Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • CPA qualification or progress toward certification is highly desirable.
  • Strong Excel capability with advanced analysis and financial modelling skills.
  • Experience using financial systems such as Microsoft Dynamics FinOps365 and Workday Adaptive Planning is advantageous.
  • Approximately 10 years’ experience in finance, ideally supporting grant funded services, research grants, or employment services.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders, building trust and maintaining clear communication.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
