Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking an Intermediate to Senior Estimator who is confident, commercially minded, and capable of contributing beyond the traditional estimating function. This role focuses on early-stage project engagement, providing high-level cost estimates to support client feasibility assessments.

The successful candidate will be able to assess and price projects based on conceptual information, making informed assumptions about building construction, required infrastructure, and appropriate contingencies to deliver accurate and reliable feasibility estimates.

  • Monday to Friday, 7:30 am -4:30 pm Manila Time
  • Will follow PH Holidays

Responsibilities

  • Estimating incoming tenders, contract administration and negotiation, including submission of timely payment claims, invoices and collection of monies due.
  • Entering subcontractors’ quotations into our system and other data entry tasks.
  • Aim to increase the margin on a project by 2% once the tender has been awarded.
  • Complete value engineering with clients and subcontractors/suppliers.
  • Negotiate contracts with subcontractors.
  • Preparing and completing comprehensive project handover to the Project team once a tender has been awarded.
  • Management of variations and ensuring final accounts are rendered on a timely basis.
  • Fostering relationships with key industry stakeholders, contractors and internal staff to ensure effective management and communication.
  • Proactively supporting your team with upskilling in estimating, tendering and quoting for contracts.
  • Preparing material take-off based on plans and specifications and applying appropriate material and labour rates.
  • Procurement and subcontractor agreements.
  • Monitoring and maintaining profitability on all contracts.
  • Progress payments to clients on time and provided to meet the contractual terms of agreement.
  • Reviewing contractual documents and providing the CEO/Commercial Manager with visibility of any abnormal terms or conditions prior to engaging in untenable conditions.
  • Sourcing and forming new relationships with Subcontractors. As this sector is new to the business, sourcing base build subcontractors and vetting them will form an important role.
  • Project Cash flow, negotiating terms that suit the business. Ensuring subcontractor payments are in line with client payments. Minimizing the business risk by managing the cash flow.
  • Providing visibility to any risk items discovered within tender documentation. This could be Asbestos, lack of detail, missing consultant reports etc.
  • Preparing monthly reports on live projects, where they sit cost-wise, procurement risk, and variations to date.

Qualifications

  • Have proven experience (5 years+) in commercial construction estimating.
  • Intermediate to Senior level estimating experience.
  • Strong commercial and financial understanding.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Be confident speaking up, asking questions, and contributing ideas during project planning and tender reviews.
  • Think outside the box and identify opportunities to improve project outcomes, profitability, and efficiency.
  • Take ownership of their workload and operate with a high level of accountability.
  • Help reduce pressure on senior leadership by taking responsibility for tender preparation, cost analysis, and commercial recommendations.
  • Initiative and self-management.
  • Positive attitude and team-focused approach.
