Our Team
We are seeking an autonomous, highly collaborative, and bilingual (English/Spanish) Manufacturing Systems Engineer to join our Software Product Team as a resident Subject Matter Expert (SME).
In this role, you will be the definitive authority on manufacturing operations and production management workflows for our software organization across our regional footprint. You will leverage your deep domain expertise - specifically in production scheduling, capacity planning, inventory control, and shop-floor execution - to guide the design, deployment, and optimization of Cimpress’s Fulfillment software system, Comet.
Embedded directly within the product team, you will act as a trusted partner and bridge to our manufacturing users, ensuring we build a platform that aligns with real-world plant operations. This role requires regular travel to manufacturing facilities to build relationships, support system readiness, and facilitate cross-departmental alignment.
The Mission: Be the “voice of production” within the product team. You will autonomously translate complex manufacturing schedules and operational workflows into smart software requirements, earning the trust of software developers and manufacturing leadership in both English- and Spanish-speaking facilities.
What You Will Do
Product Team SME &Domain Guidance
- Serve as the internal SME for the software product and development teams, answering nuanced questions about master scheduling logic, Bottleneck management, capacity constraints, and physical material routing.
- Partner with Product and Project Managers during the discovery phase to map out sophisticated operational workflows and ensure Comet architecture reflects true manufacturing and scheduling logic.
- Review and validate user stories, technical specs, and software prototypes from an operational and management perspective before they hit the development pipeline.
The Trusted Cross-Functional Bridge
- Build strong, trust-based relationships with plant managers, production schedulers, and operations heads across diverse regions. Act as their primary advisory contact within the product team in both English and Spanish.
- Autonomously gather and synthesize feedback from operations leaders, translating their high-level scheduling and throughput pain points into actionable software enhancements.
- Act as the ambassador for the product team, clearly communicating software capabilities, constraints, and release roadmaps to manufacturing stakeholders.
On-Site Support & Continuous Optimization
- Travel to manufacturing facilities to support implementation teams during system readiness phases, ensuring core operational parameters (work centers, routing logics, machine capacities) are accurately modeled in the system.
- Act as the self-directed escalation point for complex issues where software behavior intersects with physical process constraints on the floor.
- Continuously audit system utilization post-deployment, working with management to ensure Comet delivers the exact operational data and dashboards needed to maximize plant throughput.
Your Qualifications
At Cimpress, we are striving to hire individuals that add new ideas and perspectives to our teams and enhance our culture. No matter your background or work experience, we strongly encourage you to apply—even if you feel that you don’t meet the exact requirements or have the same qualifications. You might be a great candidate for this or other opportunities.
- 4+ years of deep experience within a manufacturing environment, with an intimate understanding of how production planning, capacity management, and inventory tracking operate at both a plant and management level.
- Professional fluency in both English and Spanish (written and verbal) is required. You must be able to discuss technical software logic, database requirements, and operational manufacturing metrics fluently in both languages.
- Willingness and ability to travel (up to 25-40% of business days) to various manufacturing facilities as required to support product initiatives and build stakeholder relationships.
- A proven self-starter who can embed into a tech team, identify process gaps, build cross-departmental relationships, and drive initiatives forward without a rigid playbook.
- Deep familiarity with enterprise manufacturing software architecture (MIS, ERP, MRP, or MES), specifically modules related to scheduling and inventory.
Nice to Have
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, or a related technical team.
- Experience working directly inside an Agile/Scrum software product team.
- Understanding of data analytics or visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI) used to build operational throughput and capacity dashboards.
