Job description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Solar Sales Development Representative (SDR) to join our Residential Solar team. This role is responsible for generating qualified homeowner appointments for Solar Account Managers through high-volume outbound/inbound prospecting and lead qualification.

The ideal candidate will play a critical role in driving top-of-funnel pipeline by engaging prospective customers, educating them on the benefits of residential solar, and scheduling qualified consultations. This position is focused on outbound calling, inbound lead management, follow-up communication, and appointment pipeline development. This role does not carry closing or full-cycle sales responsibilities and is focused exclusively on pipeline generation and appointment setting.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Generate and qualify leads for residential solar through high-volume outbound prospecting, including phone calls, email outreach, and SMS communication.
  • Engage with prospective customers to introduce residential solar solutions, assess initial interest, and determine qualification based on established criteria (homeownership, energy usage, and eligibility factors).
  • Schedule qualified appointments for Solar Account Managers, ensuring all required information is captured and accurately documented.
  • Execute structured follow-up efforts to confirm appointments, improve show rates, and maintain consistent multi-touch engagement with prospective customers.
  • Maintain accurate records of outreach activity, customer interactions, lead status, and pipeline progression within CRM systems.
  • Collaborate closely with Solar Account Managers to ensure high-quality appointment handoff and alignment on prospect expectations.
  • Consistently meet or exceed daily, weekly, and monthly activity and performance metrics, including call volume, contact rates, and appointments set.
  • Build interest and maintain engagement by utilizing strong communication and objection-handling skills when speaking with prospective customers.
  • Effectively manage time and prioritize outreach efforts to maintain a steady pipeline of qualified appointments.
  • Stay informed on residential solar offerings, basic industry concepts, and company value propositions to effectively communicate with prospective customers.
  • Occasional travel required for company sponsored training and events.

Required Skills:

  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to quickly build rapport and engage customers over the phone.
  • Comfortable working in a high-volume outbound calling environment with activity-based performance expectations.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Self-motivated and results-driven, with a demonstrated ability to meet or exceed performance goals.
  • Ability to manage multiple communication channels including outbound calls, email, and SMS.
  • Ability to handle objections, navigate customer concerns, and maintain professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Outlook and Excel) and CRM platforms.
  • Highly adaptable with the ability to respond effectively to feedback and process changes.
  • Interest in renewable energy and sustainability preferred.
  • Highly entrepreneurial mindset with a strong desire to succeed in a performance driven role

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or related field or Minimum of 1 year prior experience in sales, customer service, call center, or lead generation role is preferred
  • Experience working in a metrics-driven environment is preferred.
  • Experience with CRM systems is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a remote or hybrid environment as required.

Performance Expectations & Metrics:

  • Daily outbound call volume
  • Customer contact / conversation rate
  • Qualified appointments scheduled
  • Appointment “sit” (show) rate
  • Lead-to-appointment conversion rate
  • Appointment quality as measured by downstream sales outcome

Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis. Unfortunately, a current or future need for sponsorship is not supported or available for this position.

Salary Range:

$35,000.00 - $45,000.00

*This range reflects base pay only. Incentive earnings, like commissions or bonuses, are not included.

This role is also eligible for sales commission.
