About the Role

We are looking for a highly analytical and detail-oriented Financial Analyst / Construction Accountant to support and strengthen our financial operations. This role will play a critical part in financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and expense tracking, while helping the company build and organize financial reporting systems and processes.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in financial analysis and forecasting, experience with job costing or project accounting, and is comfortable working with QuickBooks Online, Xero, and advanced Excel models. This role requires someone who is proactive, self-motivated, and capable of identifying financial gaps and improving financial processes.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare and present weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Conduct variance analysis and explain differences between actual results, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Analyze financial data to identify gaps, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain clear and organized financial reporting systems.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Lead and support the monthly budgeting process.
  • Develop and maintain financial forecasts and financial models for short-term and long-term planning.
  • Provide financial insights to support strategic business decisions.

Cost Accounting & Construction Job Costing

  • Track and analyze project costs including labor, materials, and overhead allocations.
  • Ensure accurate job costing and expense allocation across projects.
  • Support contract review and project accounting where applicable.

Cash Flow Management

  • Monitor weekly cash flow and prepare forecasts to support operational needs.
  • Manage and monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable processes.
  • Assist leadership in maintaining strong liquidity and financial stability.

Expense Tracking & Invoicing

  • Track and manage internal company expenses including payroll, insurance, rent, liability, and other operational costs.
  • Support and oversee invoicing processes to ensure accurate billing and timely payments.

Process Improvement & Systems Development

  • Identify opportunities to improve and streamline accounting operations and reporting processes.
  • Help build and organize financial reporting systems and operating processes.
  • Support the implementation and improvement of accounting software and financial tools.

Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum 3+ years of accounting or financial analysis experience.
  • Experience in financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis.
  • Experience with job costing, project accounting, or construction accounting is strongly preferred.
  • Experience reviewing contracts and tracking project financials is a plus.
  • Experience with invoicing and expense tracking.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, financial modeling).
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online and/or Xero.
  • Experience with financial reporting systems and accounting software.
  • Ability to create structured financial operating systems and reporting frameworks.

Soft Skills

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to identify financial gaps and provide solutions.
  • Excellent English communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
