Job description

This is a remote position.

We're looking for a Middle Ruby on Rails Developer to join a collaborative engineering team working on a large-scale education platform. You'll contribute to the development of new features, collaborate closely with experienced engineers, and take ownership of tasks from implementation through deployment while continuing to grow your technical expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain features within our web application, following existing architecture and design patterns

  • Take ownership of small-to-medium features from ticket through to deployment, with guidance from senior team members

  • Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver product improvements

  • Contribute to performance and reliability improvements on specific parts of the platform, under senior guidance

  • Write and maintain automated tests to keep the codebase stable and reliable

  • Participate in code reviews — both giving and receiving feedback

  • Help investigate and resolve production issues, escalating and collaborating with senior engineers when needed

  • Explore AI tooling as part of day-to-day engineering work to support delivery.



Requirements


  • Have experience building and maintaining web applications, ideally at some scale

  • Have solid experience with Ruby (essential), along with Rails and JavaScript; exposure to React is a plus

  • Understand software design principles, testing practices, and writing clean code

  • Have some exposure to cloud infrastructure and CI/CD tooling (e.g. AWS, GitHub Actions)

  • Be able to deliver features at a reasonable pace while maintaining code quality

  • Show interest in AI-assisted development workflows and openness to using these tools thoughtfully

  • Upper-Intermediate (B2+) or higher English proficiency, with confidence communicating daily with international teams in both spoken and written English.


Nice to Have

  • Have experience within education technology platforms (LMS, LXP, MOOC)

  • Be familiar with standards such as LTI, SCORM, or xAPI

  • Have exposure to LLM integration, AI tooling, or Agentic systems.
