Company Overview:

At Joby, we've been working to make that dream a reality since 2009 and we're now in the final stages of certifying our aircraft with the FAA. With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.

Job Overview:

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for writing and maintaining technical manufacturing documents such as work instructions, standard operating procedures, test plans, process specifications, and test reports. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality, and materials and processes. In this role, you will also interact and will be responsible of CAD scope of work across different categories.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop, write, maintain and review detailed MWIs to support manufacturing operations related to M&P Test Panels, FPQs, TP/DT, DEV and ECRs.
  • Create and review Redlines for Manufacturing.
  • Create MWIs for First Article Inspection processes.
  • Support the CPDs modeling and MFG Recommendations.
  • Be a MFG reviewer for Modeling Releases.
  • Support AFA and AFI MWIs and MFG Recommendations.
  • Support the creation and review of standard operating procedures as needed to reflect changes in processes and improve production efficiency.
  • Support CAD work, from Drawings to Models Design and Change Actions requests.
  • Author, update, and revise test plans/reports to meet company process specifications and ensure alignment with engineering requirements.

Other Duties

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including design, tooling, manufacturing, quality, material & process and other engineering departments.
Required:
  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in relevant Engineering field. (Mechanical, Electromechanical, Mechatronics, Maintenance, etc)
  • Proficiency with documentation tools and software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Docs).
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and the ability to translate technical information into clear, user-friendly documentation.
Desired:
  • 1+ years of related experience working as a manufacturing engineer, process engineer or CAD engineer.
  • Experience in writing technical documents for manufacturing processes, specially Manufacturing Work Instructions (MWIs).
  • Familiarity with quality control and industry standards in manufacturing.
  • Experience working in the aerospace, automotive, or medical industry
